Blue Yonder in Dallas, TX, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Sr Java Backend) to join our Azure cloud-based Data Platform Team. You will design and implement scalable microservices, REST APIs, and data processing solutions with a focus on reliability and security.

This hybrid in-office role requires strong Java expertise, experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and Snowflake, plus familiarity with DevSecOps and GitHub workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field is required.
• 8+ years of software development experience.
• Strong Java backend expertise and experience with REST APIs and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality software following clean code principles and Blue Yonder standards.
• Participate in backlog grooming, planning, stand-ups and retrospectives.
• Translate business requirements into user stories and actionable tasks.
• Lead design of individual stories and break them into subtasks.
• Consider information security in coding and code reviews.
• Stay updated with latest technology trends and industry practices.
• Serve as an expert for a designated technical area and mentor others.
• Provide day-to-day operational support for systems.

We are seeking an individual that has a strong technical foundation in Java, REST APIs, Microservices, Cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP), Kubernetes, Kafka, Event Hubs, Elasticsearch, Snowflake

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Core responsibilities includes focusing on innovation and improving delivery effectiveness by driving product development features across the organization in software development, deployment, and infrastructure consistency.
• Provide standardized enterprise solutions for cloud infrastructure and application deployment across multiple products.
• Apply the appropriate software engineering patterns utilizing a meta-driven systems approach to build robust and scalable systems
• Expert in OO and Functional programming and the ability to apply your skills in developing Blue Yonder products.
• Influence fellow engineers by proposing software designs, providing feedback on software designs and/or implementation.
• Experienced problem-solving skills that can help the team in triaging operational issues. You will leverage your expertise in eliminating repeat occurrences.
• The team currently comprises of global associates across US, Canada, India, and Germany and is expected to grow. The incumbent will need to be a quick learner.

• Software/Tools: Java, Python, Groovy, GitHub, Node.js, React.js, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, SonarQube, Codacy, Checkmarx, GitHub Advance Security, Black Duck Hub, BlazeMeter, Artifactory, Ansible, Docker, etc.
• Application Architecture : Scalable, Resilient, event driven, secure multi-tenant Microservices architecture
• Cloud Architecture : MS Azure (ARM templates, AKS, Virtue Networks, Event Hub, Azure AD)
• Frameworks/Others : Kubernetes, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Spark, NOSQL, RDBMS, Spring Boot, Snowflake

What you’ll do:

• Develop quality software (including effective unit test code) according to clean code principles and Blue Yonder standards.
• Participates in team activities such as backlog grooming, planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Translates business requirements to user stories and actively seeks feedback by the stakeholders.
• Takes the lead in designs of individual stories and translates the design to subtasks.
• Considers aspects of information security while coding and reviewing other’s code.
• Keeps up to date with technology and research latest trends in the industry.
• Is perceived as the expert in a small designated technical area and is the go-to person for related implementational and operational issues.
• Evaluate and coach other engineers on the technical and interpersonal best-practices.
• Provide support/guidance for day to day operations/systems

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree (STEM preferred) and minimum 8 years of experience in Software development
• Ability to debug and diagnose issues in complex enterprise applications
• Hands-On experience and Proficiency in below Technical skills

Must have:

• GitHub, GitHub Actions, DevSecOps domain knowledge
• Intermediate understanding of virtualization, private, hybrid and public cloud computing concepts.
• Intermediate understanding in key areas such as Cloud Services such as IaaS, PaaS and SaaS on major cloud hosting platforms (Azure)

Annual Compensation Range: $ 114,103.81 - $ 143,896.18

The salary range information provided, reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual salary will be commensurate with skills, experience, certifications or licenses and other relevant factors. In addition, this role will be eligible to participate in either the annual performance bonus or commission program, determined by the nature of the position.
