Job summary

Pro Staff seeks a Senior Software Engineer – Test Systems in Austin, TX to join a cross-functional team delivering automated test software for aerospace/defense customers. You will develop instrument drivers and test sequences using LabVIEW and TestStand, and work with PXI systems, GPIB/USB/Ethernet interfaces, and various test equipment.

Requires 5+ years in LabVIEW/TestStand, U.S. Citizenship, and eligibility for DoD security clearances.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW and TestStand.
• Experience with PXI-based systems and interfacing with test equipment (I/O, DMMs, oscilloscopes, switching, data acquisition, power supplies, RF analyzers, RF power sensors).
• Experience with hardware communication interfaces (GPIB, USB, Ethernet, serial).
• Proficient in LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++, C#, Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop instrument drivers, test sequences, and software applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for various test equipment and automated test systems.
• Work closely with customers, sales teams, systems architects, electrical engineers, development teams, partners, and suppliers to define, design, implement, and sustain custom engineering solutions.
• Develop and implement system-level test plans, manage project milestones, and participate in technical reviews to ensure systems meet requirements and are ready for deployment.
• Perform verification and validation of automated tests to ensure requirements are met and appropriate test coverage is achieved.
• Provide software application handoff, technical support, and documentation to customer engineering teams, with domestic and international travel as needed to support project objectives.

Senior Software Engineer – Test Systems

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a cross-functional engineering team supporting custom test and measurement solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense, and government sectors. This role will focus on developing automated test software, integrating a variety of test equipment, and supporting the design, deployment, and sustainment of complex, large-scale test systems.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with LabVIEW and TestStand, hands-on knowledge of automated test systems and instrumentation, and the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, engineers, suppliers, and other technical teams.

Key Job Duties:

• Develop instrument drivers, test sequences, and software applications using LabVIEW and TestStand for a variety of test equipment and automated test systems.

Key Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship required, with the ability toqualify for applicable Department of Defense security clearances.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or another engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years of experience developing test software using LabVIEW and TestStand.
• Hands-on experience developing automated test software using PXI-based systems and interfacing with test equipment such as analog/digital I/O, DMMs, oscilloscopes, switching and signal-routing systems, data acquisition equipment, power supplies, RF analyzers, and RF power sensors.
• Experience with hardware communication interfaces such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, and serial protocols, along with knowledge of programming languages such as LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++, C#, and/or Python.

Additional Qualifications:

• Understanding of electrical engineering, electronics, and computer architectures.
• Experience developing and working with system-level electrical schematics.
• Experience with cross-platform development in Windows and/or Linux environments.
• LabVIEW certification is a plus.
• Experience developing software using Python, C#, or other high-level programming languages.
• Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, self-direction, and the ability to learn new technologies and systems quickly.
• Ability to work effectively in a diverse, cross-functional development environment.
