  • Salary Range: $165,000 - $375,000

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$375,000 plus bonus eligibility and other elements of our total rewards package. The range represents the amount BNSF | Tech reasonably expects to pay for the position based on the role's level, scope, and responsibilities. Individual compensation and level of position offered are determined by the hiring location and other factors including skills, experience, and education. In addition to base pay, BNSF offers a comprehensive benefits package.

This team ensures a robust IT infrastructure, supports critical applications, and enhances cybersecurity measures, which are essential in optimizing operations and delivering reliable, cutting-edge transportation services.

Role Overview

A Network Engineer in this team is an automation expert working with customers to solve technical and operational challenges by developing automated solutions for modern networks. They must be able to develop these solutions quickly and effectively to meet customer demands.

Experience & Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience supporting large-scale global production networks.
  • Hands-on experience managing hybrid cloud networks using AWS and/or Azure.
  • Authorization to work in the US currently and in the future without sponsorship.
  • Experience designing and building large-scale networks.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
  • Understanding of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with Switching and Routing Protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), automation tools (Terraform, Ansible), programming (Python, Go), and network operating systems (Cisco IOS, SONiC, Arista EoS, etc.).
  • Knowledge of automation using device APIs, Linux, Git, Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, and load balancing technologies.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Future employment-based nonimmigrant status support (e.g., H-1B, TN) is not required.
  • Experience in transportation-related industries such as Rail, Shipping, Airline, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
