Job Overview

AWS Commerce Platform provides the infrastructure and services that help AWS customers understand and manage their infrastructure costs, and enables AWS teams to sell their services.

The AWS Billing team, part of AWS Commerce Platform, owns driving and tracking the execution of the billing pipeline, streamlining operations by identifying points of manual intervention and providing scalable automated alternatives. The team brings visibility into BillRun progress and issues through up-to-date reporting and metrics, and works to create a zero‑touch billing experience that is scalable and exceeds customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Work on the hardest engineering problems in distributed systems at a massive scale and on multiple dimensions.
• Exercise intellectual curiosity, collaborate with motivated teams of sharp individuals, partner with senior and principal engineers, and provide guidance in defining the team’s engineering roadmap.
• Own design, development, testing, deployment, and operation of highly available, secure systems that handle confidential billing data at scale.
• Regularly dive into architecture, code, test plans, project plans, deployments, and operations to drive excellence throughout the organization.
• Contribute directly to growth by hiring smart and motivated engineers that can deliver swiftly and predictably, adapting in an agile manner to deliver what customers need.

About the Team

Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations—from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to continually released new product innovations. As a member of the UC organization, you support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (IoT), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions.

Basic Qualifications

• 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one programming language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, and scaling).
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
