Job summary

Axon seeks an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join the APX SRE organization. Based in Seattle with a hybrid schedule, you’ll build scalable Kubernetes platforms, ensure reliability, and improve developer experience across a cloud-native global platform.

You’ll work with Azure/AWS, Python/Go/C#, and IaC tools, shaping architecture and tooling while collaborating with engineers to promote best practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of platform engineering and container orchestration experience.
• United States citizen — able to gain CJIS clearance for full US production access.
• Experience building platforms on Azure or AWS (preferably both).
• Building, operating, and innovating clustering solutions for Kubernetes platforms like AKS, EKS, or similar in production at scale.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, C#, Java, and others.
• Experience building and managing infrastructure that is high-revenue, security, or life-safety critical.
• Experience using CI/CD to automate provisioning, builds, tests, releases.
• Experience using observability tools (APM, logging, metrics) for debugging.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Experience designing tooling to simplify SaaS/PaaS operations.
• Empathy to support software engineers.

Your Impact

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer within the APX SRE organization, you’ll focus on delivering practical, scalable solutions to support the reliability and performance of our mission-critical, cloud-native global Kubernetes platform and the services that run on it. You care deeply about system stability, clear documentation, and creating tools that improve the developer experience.

Location: This role is based out of our Seattle office and follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. What You’ll Do

As an SRE, you’ll play a critical role in building the infrastructure and tools that power reliable, scalable, and secure engineering operations across the company. You will:

• Build robust, easy-to-use kubernetes platforms and tools that enable engineering teams to provision and operate services rapidly, consistently, and securely.
• Exemplify cloud-native site reliability best practices.
• Write code that is performant, maintainable, clear, and concise.
• Employ strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug problems in cloud-native distributed systems.
• Employ technical project management skills, with the ability to properly scope, plan, and define work to meet deadlines.
• Influence and educate the engineering organization to adopt new and improved architectural patterns.
• Provide robust documentation for use by engineers to promote self-service.
• Continually seek improvement within the entire platform org for improved reliability, operability, and cost efficiency
• Take calculated risks, champion new ideas, and cultivate your craft.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of applicable experience in Platform engineering, and container orchestration
• United States Citizen — able to gain CJIS clearance for full US production access
• Experience building platforms on either Azure or AWS (preferably both)
• Building, operating, and innovating clustering solutions for Kubernetes platforms like AKS, EKS, or similar in production at scale
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, C#, Java, and others.
• Building, operating, and managing infrastructure and systems that are highly revenue, security, and/or health and life-safety critical.
• Experience utilizing CI/CD platforms to automate provisioning infrastructure, software builds, tests, and releases.
• Experience using observability tools such as APM, logging, and metrics to assist with debugging issues.
• Experience using Infrastructure as Code tools for provisioning flexible and testible modules such as Terraform, Pulumi, or similar.
• Experience designing tooling to simplify the operational management of SaaS/PaaS systems.
• Empathy to support the needs of software engineers.

Base Pay Range: $134,250 USD - $214,800 USD
