Job summary

Superluminal Medicines is seeking a highly motivated drug discovery biologist to join the growing Discovery Biology team. The role is hands-on, wet-lab focused, leading programs from hit finding through early discovery and requiring on-site work five days a week.

The successful candidate will design and execute broad cell-based assays to interrogate GPCR signaling, generate and manage data, and collaborate with computational, chemistry, and protein science teams.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology or related life sciences with 5+ years of industry experience.
• Hands-on experience developing, executing, and interpreting cell-based assays across formats and platforms, including functional assays, target engagement assays, kinetic assays, plate-based assays, flow cytometry, and high-content imaging.
• Small molecule drug discovery experience required.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
• GPCR biology experience is highly desired.
• Experience with assay automation or laboratory robotics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Hands‑on wet lab role driving programs from hit finding through early discovery.

• Generate, analyze, document, and upload experimental and routine screening data to company databases in a timely and accurate manner.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with computational, chemistry and protein science colleagues to conceptualize, design, and execute novel screening assays.
• Regularly communicate findings with program teams and present at project & company-wide meetings.
• Ensure compliance with established laboratory practices, SOPs, and company policies, including both wet lab and electronic data management requirements.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced drug discovery biologist join our growing Discovery Biology team. The successful candidate brings significant hands‑on expertise in cell‑based assay development and enablement to drive early drug discovery programs. The candidate will lead from the bench and contribute to biology strategy and execution across Superluminal programs. Must be able to work onsite five days a week.

Key Responsibilities:

• This role is hands‑on and wet lab-focused to drive programs from hit finding through all phases of early discovery.
• Independently design, develop and execute a broad array of cell‑based assays to interrogate GPCR function and signaling.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biology or a related life sciences field, with 5 or more years of relevant industry experience.
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience developing, executing, and interpreting cell‑based assays using multiple assay formats and platforms, including functional assays, target engagement assays, kinetic assays, plate‑based assays, flow cytometry, and high‑content imaging.
• Small molecule drug discovery experience required.
• Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with GPCR biology is highly desired.
• Experience with assay automation, high‑throughput screening, or laboratory robotics is a plus.
• Management experience is a plus.

Pay Range

$150,000 - $176,000. The annual base salary range listed above represents the lowest and highest amounts we reasonably and in good faith expect to pay for this position at the time of posting. An individual's starting base salary within this range will be based on relevant experience, job-related skills, and education relevant to the role. In addition to base salary, this position offers bonus and equity opportunities, as well as benefits.
