Job summary

Superluminal Medicines, Inc. is seeking a drug discovery biologist to join our Discovery Biology team. You will lead hands-on cell-based assay development and enablement across early programs, driving strategy and execution from hit finding through initial lead identification.

The role requires a Ph.D. in Biology with 5+ years of industry experience, strong GPCR biology expertise, and proficiency across multiple assay formats; onsite work five days a week in Massachusetts.

  • Hands-on experience developing, executing and interpreting cell-based assays across formats.
  • Small molecule drug discovery experience required.
  • Strong problem-solving and innovative thinking.
  • Onsite work 5 days a week.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on wet lab role driving programs from hit finding through early discovery.
  • Design and execute diverse cell-based assays to interrogate GPCR function.
  • Generate, analyze, and upload experimental data to company databases promptly.
  • Collaborate with computational, chemistry and protein science teams to design novel assays.
  • Present findings at project and company-wide meetings; ensure SOP and data compliance.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced drug discovery biologist join our growing Discovery Biology team. The successful candidate brings significant hands‑on expertise in cell‑based assay development and enablement to drive early drug discovery programs. The candidate will lead from the bench and contribute to biology strategy and execution across Superluminal programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • This role is hands‑on and wet lab‑focused to drive programs from hit finding through all phases of early discovery.
  • Independently design, develop and execute a broad array of cell‑based assays to interrogate GPCR function and signaling.
  • Generate, analyze, document, and upload experimental and routine screening data to company databases in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally with computational, chemistry and protein science colleagues to conceptualize, design, and execute novel screening assays.
  • Regularly communicate findings with program teams and present at project & company‑wide meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with established laboratory practices, SOPs, and company policies, including both wet lab and electronic data management requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biology or a related life sciences field, with 5 or more years of relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated hands‑on experience developing, executing, and interpreting cell‑based assays using multiple assay formats and platforms, including functional assays, target engagement assays, kinetic assays, plate‑based assays, flow cytometry, and high‑content imaging.
  • Small molecule drug discovery experience required.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Ability to work onsite 5 days a week required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with GPCR biology is highly desired.
  • Experience with assay automation, high‑throughput screening, or laboratory robotics is a plus.
  • Management experience is a plus.
