Do you consider yourself to be a highly technical, strong communicator with the desire to work in a team environment on complex projects? Gilbane is seeking a Senior Safety Manager to lead the safety function for a single Business Unit (BU), multiple small BUs, or a large project.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the implementation of the Gilbane Cares safety culture
  • Develop and distribute project-specific safety plans
  • Perform at least 6 SafetyNet inspections per month with 100 observations each
  • Use SafetyNet to audit and monitor safety plan implementation
  • Analyze SafetyNet reports and share insights with project teams
  • Coach teams in hazard identification and correction
  • Ensure timely closure of SafetyNet items
  • Assist teams with corrective action plans
  • Identify and provide relevant safety training
  • Investigate, document, and close incidents per policy
  • Analyze safety indicators and advise leadership on focus areas
  • Mentor Safety Managers
  • Support business development efforts related to safety
  • Participate in industry peer meetings and professional organizations
  • Assist Safety Director with initiatives and information requests
  • Contribute to safety awards programs
  • Perform tasks typically assigned to junior positions if needed
  • Develop and coach team members, fostering a positive, inclusive environment
  • Translate organizational strategy into team understanding
  • Collaborate with business development to align safety with sales strategies
Experience/Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety Management or Engineering preferred
  • 5-7 years of construction safety management experience
  • Associate or Certified Safety Professional or CHST certification
  • Authorized instructor by GU and OSHA for safety courses
  • Equivalent education and experience also considered
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Deep knowledge of construction safety principles, regulations, and techniques
  • Ability to identify exposures and recommend corrections
  • Strong computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership and management capabilities
  • Ability to manage and implement safety programs within a Business Unit
