Job summary

Blue Signal Search is seeking a hands-on Robotics Systems Engineer to own robotic welding applications, work directly with FANUC technology, and guide projects from feasibility and programming to commissioning and successful customer operation.

This role offers hands-on ownership of sophisticated robotic welding and automation projects, with extensive exposure to FANUC robotics, motion systems, welding processes, and integrated automation equipment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on FANUC robot programming and Teach Pendant expertise.
• Experience configuring FANUC software, auxiliary axes, Touch Sensing, and Coordinated Motion.
• Strong robotic welding and weld-process knowledge, including programming, process optimisation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Own robotics applications from feasibility through programming, integration, commissioning, and customer acceptance.
• Build and commission FANUC robots, including software loading and motion configuration.
• Program and optimise robotic welding applications, addressing path, cycle-time, and controller challenges.
• Evaluate robot reach, cycle-time, and feasibility to guide automation concepts and equipment selection.
• Integrate robots with positioners, controllers, safety devices, tooling, and peripherals to create production cells.
• Support factory acceptance testing, customer run-off, installation, startup, and troubleshooting in shop and customer environments.
• Collaborate with mechanical, controls, and project engineering teams to satisfy access, tooling, motion, and process requirements.
• Train customers on equipment operation and robotics functionality.

Focus:

• Own robotics applications from early feasibility through programming, system integration, commissioning, and final customer acceptance.
• Build and commission FANUC robots from the ground up, including software loading, auxiliary axis configuration, Touch Sensing, and Coordinated Motion.
• Program and optimise robotic welding applications using the Teach Pendant, resolving path, process, cycle-time, and controller-level challenges.
• Evaluate robot reach, cycle time, and process feasibility to guide automation concepts, equipment selection, and project execution.
• Integrate robots with positioners, controllers, safety devices, tooling, and peripheral equipment to create reliable production cells.
• Support factory acceptance testing, customer run‑off, installation, startup, and troubleshooting in both shop and customer environments.
• Partner with mechanical, controls, and project engineering teams to coordinate robotic access, tooling, motion, and process requirements.
• Train customers on equipment operation and robotics functionality, translating technical details into practical operating knowledge.

Skill Set:

• Hands‑on FANUC robot programming and Teach Pendant expertise, including demonstrated ability to set up and commission new FANUC robots.
• Practical experience configuring FANUC software, auxiliary axes, Touch Sensing, and Coordinated Motion. Karel programming is not required.
• Strong robotic welding and weld‑process knowledge, including programming, process optimisation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of complete robot cell integration, including positioners, controllers, safety systems, tooling concepts, and peripheral equipment.
• Experience conducting reach, cycle-time, and process‑feasibility studies for robotic automation applications.
• Clear customer‑facing communication skills and the ability to transfer equipment operating knowledge to end users.
• Bachelor's degree in robotics, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• Ability to travel approximately 20% to 40% based on project schedules for installation, commissioning, customer support, and run‑off.
