Job summary

Itron, Inc. in West Union, SC, is seeking a Sr. RF Design Engineer to join our Wireless Hardware R&D team.

You will lead RF circuit design from concept to production for a low-cost wireless product line, perform RF measurements, verify designs, and coordinate field tests and program milestones. The role requires a Bachelor’s in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent and 5+ years’ industrial experience, with strong RF, microwave theory and system knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of related industrial experience.
• In-depth understanding of electronic and RF circuits and microwave theory.
• Understanding of RF systems and wireless communication systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop new products and support existing ones, focusing on RF and communications design.
• Lead RF circuit design from concept to production for low-cost wireless products.
• Perform RF measurements using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes and network analyzers.
• Verify designs meet requirements via analysis, simulation and measurement.
• Coordinate field studies and system test activities; document results.
• Provide design and project support, including regulation, reliability and components selection.
• Support factory, service and other internal departments.
• Coordinate work of technicians and CAD designers; may lead small projects.

Our West Union, SC manufacturing plant is looking for a Sr. RF Design Engineer to join our Wireless Hardware R&D team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop new products, support existing products and improve processes, specifically related to RF and communication design.
• Lead RF circuit design from concept to production for low cost wireless communications product line - complete radio transceiver design and layout including RF PA, LNA, RF filters and matching, synthesizers, VCO's and mixers.
• Conduct RF circuit measurements using laboratory spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, network analyzers, etc.
• Verify that designs meet requirements through analysis, simulation, and measurement.
• Compare results to theory and document results.
• Carry out field studies and system test activities.
• Provide design and project support in the areas of project leadership, regulation, reliability, and components selections.
• Provide technical support to factory, service and other internal departments.
• Coordinate and verify the work of support staff (technicians and CAD Designers).
• May lead projects of limited scope.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Communications Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of related industrial experience.
• In-depth understanding of electronic circuits, RF circuits and Microwave theory.
• Understanding of RF system and wireless communication system.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Master’s Degree in related fields.
• RF Certification experience.
• Experience with communication theory and digital signal processing.
• Experience with advanced modeling and simulation.

Travel: 1-10%.
