Job summary

Validus Energy is seeking a Senior Reservoir Engineer to lead technical and commercial analyses that optimize capital reinvestment and asset development plans in the Denver metro area. You will guide multi-disciplinary teams and apply advanced petroleum economics to value opportunities.

Responsibilities include building robust type curves, economic evaluations, and leading asset evaluations from inception through execution, with travel to field locations as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS in petroleum engineering or related field is required/preferred.
  • 8+ years of related reservoir engineering experience.
  • Experience with unconventional reservoirs and economic optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Create and optimize horizontal development plans for unconventional reservoirs.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to execute development plans.
  • Integrate data into asset/corporate value models.
  • Develop robust type curves and perform rate transient analyses.
  • Produce production and reserves forecasts for business planning.

Description

Senior Reservoir Engineer is responsible for conducting technical and commercial analysis to optimize capital reinvestment opportunities and leading multi-disciplinary project teams to successful execution. The successful candidate applies extensive discipline specific knowledge and experience to optimizing asset development plans, asset evaluations, and engineering projects. The position is preferably located in the metropolitan area of Denver, but Houston or Oklahoma City could also be considered, based upon the qualified candidate.

Requirements
  • Previous experience in reservoir development, reservoir characterization, economic optimization, A&D evaluations, and reserves in unconventional horizontal plays, preferably with Anadarko Basin experience
  • Experience in creating and executing large-scale development programs with a focus on leading and optimizing development planning
  • Track record of proactively finding previously unidentified value
  • Demonstrated results in improving the profitability of or accurately predicting oil and gas field performance
  • Advanced knowledge of petroleum economic theory
  • Previous experience in production/reserves forecasting, and project development
  • Track record of increasing team efficiency and overall quality of work through process improvement and automation of workflows
  • Knowledgeable on industry activity and current development trends
  • Excellent collaboration and leadership skills across multiple O&G disciplines, even when remotely located
  • Expert proficiency in preparing and effectively delivering detailed technical presentations to co-workers, partners and management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills1>
  • Expert proficiency in ARIES/ComboCurve, Whitson/Harmony, Spotfire, & MS Office Suite
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Create and optimize horizontal development plans incorporating numerous subsurface, surface and corporate variables, such as well spacing, well targeting, parent/child relationships, and completion strategies in unconventional stacked pay reservoirs
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary development team to successfully execute optimized development plans
  • Integrate technical, operational and financial data sources (public and proprietary) into accurate subsurface characterization that feeds holistic asset/corporate value models
  • Create technically robust type curves that adhere to latest industry practices
  • Conduct rate transient analysis, multivariate analysis, or other reservoir engineering analysis as needed to increase confidence in reservoir performance and underlying value
  • Collaborate and integrate geologic/petrophysical/geophysical work product
  • Conduct complex economic evaluations using detailed technical work
  • Lead and conduct technical studies, detailed lookbacks, and high-value-of-information data acquisition plans for continuous performance improvement
  • Generate production and reserves forecasts using industry accepted techniques in support of semiannual business plan and reserves cycle process
  • Participate in or lead business development asset evaluations from inception to bid recommendation by integrating technical, economic and commercial analysis
  • Create recommendations for active leasing program that include bid curves and summarizing characterization/risks, even when available data is limited
  • Deconstruct and translate Lease Operating Statements into LOE/CAPEX/Midstream models
  • Work efficiently and lead project work to meet tight turnarounds and deadlines in a collaborative, multiple-project team environment spread across multiple office locations
  • Prepare and deliver detailed recommendations, reports, and presentations to peers, management and/or large groups
  • Frequently share best practices and participate in peer assist groups
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering is preferred; BS in related engineering discipline is required
  • Eight or more years of related experience is required
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Able to travel for business, conferences, and to other office locations/field as needed (roughly once a quarter)
