Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in petroleum engineering (or related engineering).
  • 5+ years in reservoir engineering in oil and gas.
  • Experience with ARIES, Harmony, ComboCurve or Whitson.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Spotfire, PowerBI).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and cross-disciplinary communication.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimize horizontal development integrating engineering, subsurface and commercial factors.
  • Generate production forecasts, reserves estimates, type curves, and economic analyses.
  • Lead technical studies, post-appraisals and surveillance across assets.
  • Monitor production results and work with Operations to address off-trend wells.
  • Identify opportunities for rate adds and production optimization.
  • Support budgeting cycles and board-ready reporting; assist auditors with ARIES data.

Job description

Blackjack Natural Resources is seeking a highly motivated Senior Reservoir Engineer to join our fast-growing team in Oklahoma City. In this role, the Senior Reservoir Engineer will work closely with the Executive Team, Finance, Operations, Geoscience, and related disciplines to conduct technical and commercial analysis in support of development planning, budgeting, operations, reserves, and long-term planning of the company.This role will be a high-visibility job that has exposure across all disciplines in the company and reports directly to the Co-CEO.

Responsibilities
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to plan and optimize horizontal development while incorporating engineering, subsurface, and commercial variables into decision-making and recommendations
  • Generate production forecasts, reserves estimates, type curves, and economic analyses in support of development planning, business development, leasing, and inventory expansion efforts
  • Lead technical studies, post-appraisals, performance tracking, and surveillance plans across Blackjack’s assets and new development activity
  • Monitor production results on flowback, new wells, and mature wells and work with Operations team to appropriately identify, evaluate, and remediate any wells off trend
  • Work with the operations teams to evaluate and generate opportunities for rate adds or production optimization, including artificial lift change projects, compression projects, and downhole remediations
  • Work with engineering analysts to validate and manage production forecasts, commercial and economic parameters, and development models in ARIES
  • Support quarterly budgeting and reserves reporting cycles, working with the Executive Team to update quarterly plans and prepare for quarterly Board Meetings, and assisting Reserves Auditors to develop, maintain, and deliver audited ARIES databases and reports as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering (or related engineering discipline) from an accredited University
  • 5+ years of experience in a reservoir engineering role within the oil and gas industry
  • Experience with reservoir engineering software such as ARIES, Harmony, ComboCurve, or Whitson
  • Experience with data visualization tools (Spotfire, PowerBI, etc)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to work across disciplines in a team setting
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in a reservoir engineering role within the oil and gas industry, with broad experience in development planning, forecasting, reserves, and economic analysis in the Mid-Con / Anadarko Basin
  • High level of proficiency in ARIES, Harmony/Whitson, and Spotfire
  • Experience with GIS related software such as QGIS or ArcGIS
  • Experience with A&D Evaluations and asset level business development evaluations
  • Working knowledge of field operations, completions engineering, and production engineering
  • Working knowledge of current A.I. Tools and ability to integrate into daily workflows
