Job summary

Incyte Corporation in Wilmington, Delaware is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to lead the build, implementation and hands-on support of a high-throughput robotics and mass spectrometry laboratory for weekly ADME assays, including metabolic intrinsic clearance, CYP450 inhibition and transporter studies.

The role includes developing LC-MS/MS methods for HT assays, training laboratory staff, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years in HT drug metabolism/ADME or PhD with 3+ years in a high-throughput lab.
• Experience with HT-MS platforms (Agilent RapidFire, Sciex Echo) preferred.
• Proficiency with liquid handling robots (Hamilton, Tecan) and programming for ADME assays.

Responsibilities

• Miniaturize end-to-end robotics workflow for weekly ADME assays using HT robotics and MS instruments.
• Develop, analyze, report and archive drug metabolism/ADME data using LC-MS/MS bioanalysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and lab staff to ensure data quality.
• Perform routine lab tasks: reagent prep, instrument maintenance, and inventory management.
• Analyze and archive data into ELN; prepare summaries and reports as needed.
• Develop LC-MS/MS methods for HT ADME assays and troubleshoot data quality issues.

Job Summary (Primary function)

The Senior Research Scientist will be responsible for the building, implementation and hands on support of a high-throughput robotics and mass spectrometry laboratory supporting weekly screening drug metabolism and ADME assays such as metabolic intrinsic clearance, CYP450 inhibition and transporters. The Senior Research Scientist will also serve as a subject matter expert in mass spectrometry assisting and training laboratory staff members.

Essential Functions of the Job (Key responsibilities)

• Independently work with laboratory staff members to miniaturize end-to-end robotics workflow for select weekly screening drug metabolism and ADME assays, including using state-of-the-art high-throughput robotics and mass spectrometry instruments
• Learn and become independent with the conduct, analysis, reporting and archiving of drug metabolism and ADME biochemical assays using LC-MS/MS bioanalysis
• Work seamlessly with cross-functional stakeholders and laboratory staff members
• Perform routine laboratory tasks, including reagent preparation, equipment/instrument maintenance, and supply management
• Independently analyze, record, and archive data into Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELN), prepare summary documents and report data as needed
• Independently build high-quality LC-MS/MS methods for high throughput drug metabolism and ADME assays. Able to identify and troubleshoot problems with the LC-MS/MS and HT-MS instruments and/or quality issues of the resulting data.

Qualifications (Minimal acceptable level of education, work experience, and competency)

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline and at least ten years experience, or Ph.D. with 3+ years, working in a high throughput drug metabolism / ADME or biochemistry laboratory
• Strong preference given to candidates with experience using HT-MS platforms such as Agilent Rapid Fire and/or Sciex Echo mass spectrometry
• Experience working with liquid handling robots such as Hamilton or Tecan. Strong preference given to candidates able to program robots for novel drug metabolism/ADME assays
• Ability to independently manage assigned tasks while meeting timelines and quality expectations in a fast-paced work environment
• Attention to detail, and effective oral and written communication skills
