Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Senior Research Investigator (SRI) will be a high-level leadership role in the laboratory, overseeing all fundamental activities related to sponsored science in an academic environment, supporting multiple research projects in a collaborative setting. The SRI will execute key projects, lead scientific management of personnel, set priorities, and supervise day-to-day experimental procedures.

Essential Functions:

1. Develop strategic plans to define project objectives, execute the mission, and meet experiment timelines.
2. Design and implement experiments, and delegate procedures as needed.
3. Train and supervise laboratory staff, ensure proper use of research equipment, SOP adherence, and biosafety compliance. Enhance rigor and reproducibility.
4. Monitor research progress, ensure high-quality results, and comply with regulations.
5. Prepare reports, communicate findings via posters, presentations, abstracts, manuscripts, and assist in grant writing and submissions.
6. Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, reflecting Jefferson’s values.

Educational/Training Requirements:

MD or Ph.D. in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related field.

Experience Requirements:

Minimum 5 years of lab management experience, with proven expertise in immunology and hands-on experience with flow cytometry, including data analysis and interpretation.

Additional Information:

Strong technical, analytical, management, organizational, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of advanced scientific principles, methods, and laboratory equipment.
