Job summary

Black Diamond Networks is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer to drive end-to-end reliability for electromechanical products. You will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure robust reliability plans and analyses.

You will lead DFMEA efforts, run statistical analyses, and develop reliability models to forecast performance, MTBF, and availability. Expect travel to support projects and partner activities as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, with five+ years in reliability engineering.
  • Master’s degree or reliability certification preferred.
  • Experience with reliability and statistics tools required.

Job description

  • Understand stakeholder requirements, product specifications, applications, and their relationship to parts, products, and processes; lead qualification activities in support of product release.
  • Participate in design reviews and work with engineering teams to drive design-for-reliability processes, tools, and reliability planning.
  • Develop system reliability models and perform component-level thermomechanical simulations.
  • Work with support and service teams to gather data for reliability metrics.
  • Lead failure analysis and corrective actions through successful implementation of solutions.
  • Use reliability data to define product improvements across hardware, software, and processes.
  • Travel as required to support project, partner, or field activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Review engineering change requests for their impact on reliability.

The Engineer will create work products that address end-to-end reliability requirements throughout the product life cycle, including:

  • Reliability plans, reliability requirements, DFMEAs, and reliability test protocols for accelerated reliability testing, reliability growth testing, and related activities.
  • Execution of reliability plans and preparation of reliability reports.
  • Reliability metrics based on data gathered from support, service, quality, manufacturing, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Reliability models and component-level thermomechanical simulation results.
  • Statistical analyses and reliability reports.
  • Reliability growth models used to measure and improve product reliability.
  • Reliability metric reporting and forecasting, including MTBF, availability, and related measures.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of five years of experience in reliability engineering.
  • A master’s degree in engineering, relevant reliability engineering experience, or a recognized reliability certification is preferred.
  • Experience with reliability and statistical analysis tools is required.
  • Experience applying reliability methods to complex electromechanical products or systems is preferred.
