Job summary

CJ Schwan’s Company in Beaumont, CA is seeking a Sr. Reliability Engineer to examine production equipment and develop reliability solutions that keep lines running efficiently.

Under the Sr. Director’s supervision, you will analyze failures, implement preventive and predictive maintenance, and collaborate with design engineering to select materials and equipment. Travel up to 10-20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; SMRP recertification within 2 years.
• 7+ years of experience in maintenance and reliability, production management, engineering or operations.
• Knowledge of reliability testing methods (FMEA/FMECA, reliability prediction, fault tree analysis, parts stress analysis, worst-case analysis).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with project management experience across multiple projects.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills; proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Measure and analyze reliability of design, materials, processes, cost and final products of production equipment.
• Develop solutions for repetitive failures to improve plant operations; use SPC, reliability modeling, Weibull, Six Sigma.
• Define, monitor and refine asset maintenance plans including preventive maintenance and predictive testing.
• Evaluate equipment and suppliers; assist selection of materials for production equipment.
• Perform breakdown analysis and root cause analysis; present findings to senior leadership.

We're building our Engineering team within our large Asian foods plant in Beaumont, CA. Under general supervision from our Sr. Director of the plant, the Sr. Reliability Engineer will be responsible for examining and monitoring current production equipment and developing reliability solutions so that production lines operate most effectively and efficiently. The incumbent will perform various analyses to determine areas in need of improvement and develop reliability and maintainability solutions to overcome any production challenges.

What You Will Do

• Measure and analyze the reliability of the design, materials, processes, cost, and final products of production equipment.
• Develop engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations including capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. Data analysis techniques may include statistical process control, reliability modeling and prediction, fault tree analysis, Weibull tree analysis, and six sigma methodology.
• Professionally and systematically define designs, develop, monitor and refine an asset maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks and effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems.
• Participate in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
• Develop acceptance tests and inspection criteria.
• Advise design engineering team on selection of materials. May also recommend changes to the selection and application of production equipment.
• Perform breakdown analysis and root cause analysis thoroughly, presenting findings to senior leadership.

What We Look For

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Must obtain Re-certification by SMRP standard or equivalent within 2 years in this role.
• 7+ years related experience in maintenance and reliability, production management, engineering or operations (previous food industry experience preferred).
• Knowledgeable in reliability testing methods including FMEA/FMECA, reliability prediction, fault tree analysis, parts stress analysis, and worst-case analysis.
• Working knowledge in statistical methods; Strong technical problem-solving skills and proven project management experience with coordination of multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong analytical, leadership, and communication (both written and verbal) skills, Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Willing and able to travel up to 10-20% of the time to other CJ Schwan's facilities.

What We Offer

The base salary range for this position is $93,000 - $154,000 annually with eligibility for a 10% annual incentive bonus, which is based on organizational performance. The salary range represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to education, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
