Stryker Corporation is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer for the Peripheral Vascular Division in Irvine, CA. You will join a multidisciplinary Concept team to conceive, develop, integrate, and evaluate advanced electro-mechanical architectures across our product portfolio.

You will collaborate with physicians, engineering, suppliers, and partners to define requirements, assess feasibility, and accelerate future products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical or Biomedical preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience supporting catheter-based medical device development.
  • Exposure to electromechanical systems, electronics, sensing technologies, or electrical components used in medical device applications (e.g. PFA, RF, IVUS).
  • Proficiency in mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
  • Ability to create engineering drawings and models using GD&T and CAE tools.
  • Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Experience communicating technical plans and information to cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of next-generation peripheral vascular technologies through concept generation, prototyping, and early-stage product development.
  • Research, design, develop, modify, and verify catheter-based medical device components and subsystems with minimal supervision.
  • Translate design inputs, clinical needs, and user requirements into engineering specifications and subsystem-level designs.
  • Prototype and analyze design solutions to validate technical feasibility, concept performance, and clinical value.
  • Contribute to rapid iteration and evaluation of concepts based on effectiveness, system reliability, manufacturability, and clinical safety.
  • Apply engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges involving catheter technologies, electromechanical systems, and innovative medical device concepts.
  • Utilize CAD and CAE tools to model mechanical, fluidic, and electromechanical components while creating detailed engineering drawings and documentation.
  • Create and refine engineering documentation, including Design History Files, in compliance with design control procedures.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management teams to advance concepts through feasibility and development.
  • Support regulatory compliance by following industry standards, risk management practices, and quality system requirements.

What You Will Do

What You Will Need

Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering. Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting catheter-based medical device development, including exposure to catheter technologies, components, design, testing, or related product development activities. Exposure to electromechanical systems, electronics, sensing technologies, or electrical components used in medical device applications (eg. PFA, RF, IVUS) Proficiency in mechanical engineering practices and design principles. Ability to create engineering drawings and models using GD&T and CAE tools. Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes. Familiarity with CAD tools, preferably Solidworks. Experience communicating technical plans and information to cross-functional teams

US15: $89,400 - $148,900 USD Annual Travel Percentage: 10%

Work Flexibility Remote – Role allows you to work the majority to 100% of time from an alternate workplace. These roles could have travel expectations, and you must work within the country of the job requisition location. Field-based – You can expect to regularly work a majority to 100% of time at customer facilities and has a set territory or expectation to travel within a set boundary. Almost all sales roles would likely be qualified as field-based. Onsite – Role is 100% located at a Stryker facility. Some ad hoc flexibility may be available depending on role, level, and job requirements. Manufacturing roles and any role that requires physical presence at the office would qualify under this category. Hybrid – You can expect to regularly work in both an alternate workplace and a Stryker facility. Roles that are partially remote or co-located would qualify as hybrid, and the expectation to be onsite would be defined and agreed upon by your manager/supervisor.
