Job summary

Tracewell Systems Inc. in Lewis Center, Ohio is seeking a Sr. Quality Inspector to uphold rigorous quality standards across production.

You will inspect mechanical and electrical components, follow documented procedures, and maintain quality records to ensure shipments meet specifications. The role requires 1–5 years in QA/QC, familiarity with ISO/AS standards, and hands-on measurement experience with calipers and micrometers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • 1–5 years in quality assurance, quality control, or manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or TS16949 standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Experience with IPC 610, J-STD-001, and IPC-620 (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical dimensioning and tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5).
  • Proficiency in basic math and Microsoft Word/Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect mechanical and electrical components using calipers, micrometers, and related tools to ensure conformance with drawings and specs.
  • Follow inspection protocols and engineering docs to verify assembly and testing steps meet requirements.
  • Maintain quality records, perform sampling and inspections, and prepare documentation for shipment.
  • Support investigations into quality issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions across teams.
  • Coordinate or perform equipment calibration and assist with first article inspections to validate new builds.
  • Work with engineering, production, and leadership to embed quality in every step of the process.

Purpose of the Role

From incoming materials to final product inspection, your work ensures our solutions are future-ready and built to perform.

What You’ll Do

  • Use advanced measurement tools to inspect mechanical and electrical components, wiring layouts, subassemblies, and finishes. Ensure every detail aligns with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Process & Compliance Auditing
    • Follow inspection protocols and engineering documentation to verify that all assembly and testing steps meet internal and customer requirements.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate quality records, perform sampling and inspections, and prepare documentation for product shipment.
  • Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement
    • Support investigations into quality issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions. Collaborate across teams to drive resolution and improvement.
  • Calibration & First Article Inspection
    • Coordinate or perform equipment calibration and assist with first article inspections to validate new builds.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and leadership to ensure quality is embedded in every step of our process.

What You Bring

  • High School Diploma
  • 1–5 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or manufacturing
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or TS16949 standards
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications
  • Experience with IPC 610, J-STD-001, and IPC-620 (preferred)
  • Strong understanding of mechanical dimensioning and tolerancing (ANSI Y14.5)
  • Proficiency in basic math and Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Detail-oriented mindset and strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable lifting up to 40 lbs and working in lab, office, and manufacturing environments
  • Hands-on experience with calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools
  • Basic computer skills (file creation, saving, printing)
