Position Summary:

The Senior Quality Assurance Technician supports quality engineers in standard processes to ensure compliance with minimal supervision. They work with quality assurance engineers and manufacturing staff to ensure inspection and testing measures are implemented and maintained. They also assist in the development of standards to meet quality specifications. The Senior Quality Assurance Technician ensures everyone’s success by coaching and guiding other team members.

Measures of success:
  • Reduce days aging for Material Review Board (MRB) Internal Corrective Action Requests (ICARs) to < 10 days
  • Reduce days aging for Material Review Board (MRB) Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) to < 15 days
  • Perform 4 process internal audits annually
  • Identify at least one new statistical process control (SPC) point in manufacturing cell to track product quality
Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supports development and maintenance of quality systems by writing quality plans, including dimension requirements and inspection specifications, by analyzing blueprints to determine critical dimensions
  • Develops inspection and calibration procedures and techniques for quality inspectors
  • Develops quality plans for suppliers
  • Collects data using calibrated gages and calibrated coordinate measurement machine (CMM) for inspection of materials
  • Uses data to program CMM and analyze for trends
  • Generates and creates internal and supplier corrective and preventative actions within quality software that specify issue needing root cause analysis
  • Determines that packing slips and certificates of conformance meet receiver requirements
  • Prints out inspection worksheets that detail critical to fit dimensions on part drawings
  • Reviews chemicals and mechanicals on test reports submitted by supplier to verify product measurements
  • Maintains 7-year cycle of archived documents per International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality requirements
  • Follows instructions from Quality Assurance Engineer for collecting and circulating out gages for calibration, according to due date schedule
  • Performs hydro inspection, final inspection, in-process inspection and non-destructive examinations (NDEs) as needed within production cells and/or Engineering Lab
  • Performs visual and magnetic particle and liquid penetrant examinations, using x-ray fluorescence (XRF) tools as needed
  • Maintains NDE chemical inventory
  • Conducts various advanced tests within the Engineering Test Lab to ensure product fulfills or exceeds set quality standards
  • Performs failure analysis by examining and analyzing damaged and/or warranty returned product to identify extent of problems involved and ideal way to repair
  • Collects and analyzes new and returned product samples and records data from analysis
  • Writes, interprets, and puts into practice the organization’s quality standards and procedures to ISO9001:2015 revision updates
  • Ensures team adheres to company policies, practices and department standards
  • Coaches and guides team by reviewing work quality, assigning actions and ensuring task completion
Qualifications

Required:

  • Up to 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade, technical school or college
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • IPC 610 D Printed Circuit Board Assemblies certification/endorsement
  • 10+ years of experience in inspection of products and using precision measuring instruments in a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (Epicor a plus) and quality management software (ETQ a plus)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Advanced training from Hexagon for the CMM (coordinate measurement system)
  • Experience using statistical process control (SPC) methods and software
  • Knowledge of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) specifications and requirements
  • Knowledge of geometric and dimensional tolerancing
  • Knowledge of metrology techniques
  • Ability to perform failure analysis to root cause level using 8D (Eight Disciplines of Problem Solving)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Travel may occasionally be required to local warehouse site

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering (or working towards bachelor’s degree in same fields)
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Technician
Work Environment:

This position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent. Safety gear is required in these areas.

This position reports into the site every day.

This position has no direct reports.
