This full-time role is based in Los Alamos, New Mexico and focuses on developing and maintaining robust quality programs for critical national security projects. The position requires a strong engineering background with 12+ years of relevant experience; U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a government clearance are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 12+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • U.S. citizenship due to the federal nature of the work.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Responsibilities
  • Guides the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications contributing to the overall objectives of maintaining an effective quality program.

  • Uses skills to contribute to development of objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

  • Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories.

  • Works on unusually significant, unique, or complex issues.

  • Provides solutions that are highly creative and where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.

  • Has impact on successes of future concepts, products, or technologies.

  • Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups and other key decision makers.

  • Contacts with other resources internal and external to the organization.

  • Works under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets. Assignments are often self-initiated.

  • Uses independent judgment for determining course of action to accomplish objectives.

  • Uses wide latitude in the methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

About the Site

The NNSA's Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), located in Los Alamos, New Mexico, is a design laboratory responsible for the safety and reliability of the nuclear explosives package in nuclear weapons. This lab possesses unique capabilities in neutron scattering, enhanced surveillance, radiography, and plutonium science and engineering (energy.gov).
