Job Summary

This position is part of the corporate Quality Assurance Department’s Operations Compliance Support team and provides support to Compass Group business groups in responding to foodborne illness, food-related injury, and product defects/contamination, imminent health hazards, and employee health issues. The candidate will respond to initial notifications, arrange meetings with required stakeholders, conduct investigations, determine the root cause of the incident, summarize the incident in a final report, and recommend preventive measures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Respond to and investigate complaints of foodborne illness, food-related injury, and product defects/contamination.
  • Determine the root cause of substantiated allegations while minimizing product exposure and production downtime.
  • Ensure appropriateness of corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Report on findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate lab analyses and forensic examinations as necessary.
  • Assist in preparing tracking, trending, exception, summary, and other reports associated with food related incidents.
  • Work collaboratively with department Supply Chain QA staff on complaint investigations.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the overall value of team meetings.

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in achieving goals and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong reporting and technical writing skills.
  • Strong technical knowledge of retail food safety and HACCP.
  • Excellent investigative and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a life science discipline preferred.
  • Minimum of Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS) credential preferred; Registered Sanitarian/Environmental Health Specialist (RS/REHS) or equivalent credential preferred.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a dedicated food safety support role.
  • Two to three years of direct experience with regulatory requirements for food establishments.
  • Ability to engage internal stakeholders across multifunctional teams through effective communication and compelling arguments.
  • Intellectual curiosity a must.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office applications.
