Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. QA (Test) Engineer to join a cross-functional team working to improve the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veteran Appointments and Check-in Experience. This product helps Veterans schedule, prepare for, and check in to healthcare appointments from any device.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to support the design, development, and delivery of high-quality digital services.
  • Support automation and standardization to reduce duplicative work.
  • Develop and execute manual and automated test cases for web and API applications.
  • Leverage AI-powered IDEs like Copilot and Cursor for code analysis, feature development, testing, and debugging, with oversight.
  • Utilize AI tools to enhance software creation and delivery.
  • Participate in requirements analysis and story refinement.
  • Identify, document, and prioritize defects, communicating issues clearly.
  • Support CI/CD processes by validating builds and releases.
  • Engage in exploratory testing and test strategy discussions.
  • Improve testing processes, tools, and documentation.
  • Practice empathy and a user-first mindset during testing.
  • Embrace feedback, mentorship, and growth opportunities.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in software testing, focusing on automation and quality assurance.
  • Experience with React and JavaScript testing environments.
  • Proactive learning and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Ability to work independently on complex projects.
  • Clear bug reporting and user-centered acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks like Cypress, Selenium, or Playwright.
  • Development experience in AWS or Azure cloud environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship, Green Card, or EAD required.
  • Reside in the U.S. and meet government contract requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using AI tools in software delivery.
  • Experience with VA.gov, healthcare, or government digital services.
  • Familiarity with healthcare APIs like Cerner/Oracle Health Millennium.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems like Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Background in QA processes in Agile & DevOps.
  • Experience with public sector healthcare or government projects.
  • Effective collaboration in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Familiarity with the US Web Design System.
