Job summary

Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital is seeking a Public Safety Officer to perform routine safety and emergency security duties, safeguarding staff, patients, visitors, and property. You will lead Public Safety training, act as a first responder to incidents, and de-escalate volatile situations with sound judgment.

The role includes onboarding and mentoring new employees, and serving as a trusted resource for colleagues while ensuring a safe environment within the facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years in general security, military, or other public safety experience where actively carrying a firearm is part of the duty required.
• Equivalence of training and job experience to demonstrate responsible handling of weapons and use of force required.
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening and maintain trainings including weapons certifications.

Work Experience

• an equivalence of training and job experience to support effective demonstration of responsible handling of weapons and use of force Required

Licenses and Certifications

• DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Valid Driver’s license & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 Upon Hire Required and
• IAHSS - Certification As A Security Officer within 1 Year Required and
• Must pass pre-employment psychological screening Upon Hire Required and
• Must pass and maintain all training requirements to maintain employment to include certifications in Firearms, Taser, ASP Baton, Mental Health First Aid, and others as directed Upon Hire Required
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) certification Preferred
