Qualifications

POSITION OVERVIEW

RIVA Solutions, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Proposal Graphics Designer to join our Bid and Proposal (B&P) department to support our Growth operations. This candidate reports to the Director of Proposals and is responsible for working closely with Solution Architects, Proposal Managers, BD, and Capture, to conceptualize and create compelling graphics conveying extremely technical content in graphical format to a broad audience with varying levels of technical skill and capability. The ideal candidate demonstrates initiative in identifying content that is suitable for showing in illustrative form, creative in showcasing RIVA’s capabilities and performance, and has an eye for detail to develop graphics that comply with all RFP/RFQ instructions and requirements.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Translate technical solution content into clear visuals, including anchor graphics, architecture diagrams, process flows, org charts, transition timelines, and management approach graphics


• Work directly with solution architects, capture managers, and technical SMEs to extract the concept behind dense narrative and provide graphics that convey technical content in a compelling manner


• Conceptualize graphics independently in addition to rendering graphics based on a sketch or written spec, and bring options back to the writer for further refinement or adjustment


• Recommend graphics where information is too complex for words alone, represents a critical success factor, or carries a discriminator, and design each to convey a clear message to the evaluator


• Build and maintain graphics storyboards through color team reviews, revising as the proposal content matures between color team reviews


• Produce final graphic deliverables that meet solicitation formatting constraints, including page limits, font and margin rules, resolution requirements, and Section 508 accessibility


• Work with the Proposal Manager during page budgeting to size, orient, and place graphics within each section's allocation so visuals and narrative together meet the page limit without sacrificing required content


• Maintain a reusable graphics library and enforce visual consistency across volumes and across concurrent proposals


• Use both customer and RIVA branding standards to convey complex thoughts


• Support orals and video presentation graphics when required for a procurement


• Creativity and self-initiative


• Bring an original, visual point of view instead of recycling stock templates


• Push back constructively when a requested graphic will not communicate the intended message, and offer a stronger alternative


• Anticipate graphics needs early in the pursuit rather than absorbing them as a last-minute production task


• Track evolving visual standards in federal proposals and bring new approaches to the proposal team


• Work with minimal supervision under compressed timelines and manage competing priorities across multiple active pursuits


• Contribute to graphics process documentation and standards


• Collaborate with and take direction and feedback from volume leads, writers, and reviewers, and iterate quickly under deadlines


• Communicate clearly with non-designers about what is feasible within the schedule and the page constraints


• Demonstrated experience supporting federal proposals


• Working knowledge of solicitation structure, compliance requirements, evaluation criteria, and how those factors shape how a graphic needs to be formatted to be effective


• Possess In-depth understanding of how graphics support win themes and discriminators

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• 8 or more years of graphic design experience, with at least 5 years supporting federal proposals


• Expert command of Microsoft Office Suite to include advanced knowledge of PowerPoint, and Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop


• A proven portfolio demonstrating complex technical subject matter rendered for a non-technical evaluator


• Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience


• Demonstrated ability to manage graphics needs for multiple concurrent proposal efforts and manage shifting deadlines without sacrificing quality or compliance


• Function effectively with cross-collaborative teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment


• Flexible and can work a schedule which may include evenings and weekends, as required, due to proposal deadlines


• May be required to attend in-person meetings in the Reston office on an as-needed basis to collaborate with technical content leads or other members of the Growth team.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• APMP or Shipley certification preferred

The salary or salary range for this role reflects an estimated range informed by multiple compensation factors. Final offers may vary based on considerations such as relevant experience, education and training, critical skillsets, and overall business needs.

$130,000 - $160,000 USD
