Job Title: Sr. Project Scheduler Duration: 1-year Schedule: 5/40 Location: Remote
This opportunity is suited to a scheduling professional with strong Primavera P6 and CPM expertise supporting large capital construction projects in the energy construction sector. The role focuses on developing, maintaining, and analysing detailed project schedules, working closely with project management, operations, estimating, procurement, and project controls teams. This position offers the chance to influence forecasting, critical path performance, schedule risk visibility, and overall project delivery across multiple concurrent assignments.
Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and maintain detailed Primavera P6 CPM schedules for large capital construction projects.
- Develop baseline schedules incorporating engineering, procurement, mobilization, construction, commissioning, turnover, and contractual milestones.
- Work directly with project teams to establish realistic activity durations, logic, sequencing, crew plans, and execution strategies.
- Maintain and update project schedules using actual progress, remaining durations, productivity trends, and current field conditions.
- Manage schedules for multiple concurrent projects, prioritizing workload and reporting deadlines across all assignments.
- Perform critical path and near-critical path analysis and clearly communicate schedule drivers to project leadership.
- Identify schedule risks, constraints, delays, and emerging trends before they materially impact project milestones.
- Develop schedule forecasts and evaluate impacts to key milestones and project completion.
- Perform schedule variance analysis against baseline and previous forecast schedules.
- Support development of recovery and mitigation schedules when project performance deviates from plan.
- Integrate subcontractor, vendor, procurement, and client schedules into the overall project schedule.
- Facilitate regular schedule review meetings with project and operations teams.
- Develop schedule narratives, progress reports, look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, and management-level schedule summaries.
- Support project controls reporting by integrating schedule information with cost, progress, productivity, and forecasting data.
- Assist project teams with resource loading and manpower planning where applicable.
- Review subcontractor schedules for logic, sequencing, completeness, and alignment with the overall project execution plan.
- Support change management and time-impact analysis associated with scope changes, delays, and potential schedule impacts.
- Maintain appropriate schedule documentation and historical records to support contractual requirements and potential claims.
- Participate in project kickoff, baseline review, monthly forecasting, and project closeout activities.
- Support estimating and preconstruction teams with proposal schedules and preliminary execution plans as needed.
- Promote consistent scheduling standards and best practices across projects.
- Perform other tasks as requested by leadership.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of project scheduling or project controls experience, preferably supporting large capital construction projects
- Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining detailed CPM construction schedules
- Experience with baseline development, schedule updates, critical path analysis, forecasting, and recovery planning
- Experience working collaboratively with Project Managers, Superintendents, Construction Managers, Project Controls, Estimating, and client representatives
- Experience managing schedules for multiple concurrent projects and reporting deadlines across assignments
- Experience supporting change management and time-impact analysis associated with scope changes, delays, and schedule impacts
Required Skills
- Strong proficiency with Oracle Primavera P6 and MS Project
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, field operations, productivity, and project execution
- Ability to evaluate schedule logic rather than simply maintain activity dates and percentages
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and communicate potential project impacts
- Ability to perform critical path and near-critical path analysis and communicate schedule drivers clearly to project leadership
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard project controls and reporting tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex schedule information in a practical manner to both field personnel and senior leadership
- Ability to support schedule integration across subcontractor, vendor, procurement, and wider project schedules
- Ability to travel to project sites as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting large-scale capital projects within the energy construction sector
