Job summary

American Airlines is seeking a project-focused professional to lead safety-related initiatives within the Safety Strategy and Project Management team at our Fort Worth location. You will manage multiple projects, collaborate with diverse stakeholders, and apply Agile and other methodologies to deliver value across the portfolio.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of experience leading projects, programs, process improvement initiatives, technology implementations, or operational initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Strong experience in Change Management, Business Process Mapping, and Project Management

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead safety-related projects, including new implementations, enhancements, integrations, and other special projects.
  • Utilizes project management methodologies such as Agile, product architecture, continuous deployment, data models and analytics.
  • Proactively communicates with stakeholders, sponsors, and project teams to maintain project alignment.
  • Define project scope, objectives, success criteria, and deliverables in partnership with sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Develop project charters, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
  • Assist leaders in evaluating and prioritizing incoming project requests based on business value, risk, and resource availability
  • Create and maintain project schedules, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate project resources across multiple departments to ensure timely delivery.
  • Identify resource constraints and recommend solutions to maintain timelines.
  • Create executive summaries and presentations communicating status, risks, and strategic recommendations.
  • Influence and collaborate with stakeholders and product leaders to deliver solutions aligning with portfolio goals.
  • Manage program level risks and issues and remove barriers to efficient execution.
  • Collaborates with Safety, Technology, Vendor Management, Compliance, Security, etc.
  • Ensures methods and tools are used across projects including change management, risk assessment and mitigation, QA, and closure recommendations.
  • Leads internal Safety initiatives and responds to operational requests.

  • As a member of the Safety Strategy and Project Management team within the Safety Division, you will play a hands‑on role in various integration projects that support cross‑functional teams for the company’s daily operations.   • Utilizes technical knowledge and project management methodologies such as Agile, product architecture, continuous deployment process, data models and analytics, tools supporting automation/metrics and other innovative technologies in support of the portfolio.
  • Proactively communicates with stakeholders, sponsors, and project teams to maintain project alignment.
  • Define project scope, objectives, success criteria, and deliverables in partnership with sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Develop project charters, roadmaps, and implementation plans.
  • Assist leaders in evaluating and prioritizing incoming project requests based on business value, risk, and resource availability
  • Create and maintain project schedules, milestones, and dependencies.
  • Coordinate project resources across multiple departments to ensure timely delivery.
  • Identify resource constraints and recommend solutions to maintain project timelines.

  • Collaborates with various internal and external team members such as Safety, Technology, Vendor Management, Compliance, Security, etc.
  • Ensures that approved methods, processes, and tools are consistently used across projects including change management, risk assessment and mitigation planning, quality assurance, and closure recommendations.
  • Leads internal Safety initiatives and responds to operational requests.

Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience leading projects, programs, process improvement initiatives, technology implementations, or operational initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities and delivering projects in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
  • Strong experience in Change Management, Business Process Mapping, and Project Management

Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery approaches.
  • Experience with change management, business process improvement, and stakeholder engagement strategies.
  • Experience guiding internal and external partners, connect workgroups and teams to ensure strategies and impacts are clearly understood.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with various project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile, Lean, etc.

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or relevant certifications in project/program management field
  • Must be able to handle large, complex projects requiring a multi‑phased approach as well as projects that need to be fast‑tracked.
  • Inspires a culture of continuous improvement and challenges conventional thinking while driving creative solutions and intelligent risk‑taking.
  • Flexible and comfortable with ambiguity, and able to embrace change.
