Job summary

WSB is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our growing team and lead multi-discipline projects across the United States. You will oversee proposal through closeout, coordinate meetings and public involvement, and manage budgets and contract performance for municipal CIP programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school.
• Professional engineer registration or ability to obtain within six months.
• 8+ years municipal experience; direct municipality experience.
• Experience managing municipal CIP programs and projects.
• History delivering projects with positive customer service experiences.
• Ability to anticipate client needs.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of multi-discipline projects from proposal to closeout.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate client meetings, hearings, and public involvement events.
• Lead a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff across locations.
• Deliver CIP programs for municipal clients, potentially on-site in staff augmentations.
• Establish and maintain relationships with municipal clients and ensure requirements are met.
• Ensure projects comply with municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards.
• Develop budgets, allocate resources, and monitor expenditures for cost control.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies; resolve issues during execution.
• Oversight of contract negotiations and contractor performance.
• Prepare or coordinate project/client correspondence and documentation.
• Lead business development activities with plans, leads and networking events.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and promote innovation.
• Understand and pursue funding sources for municipal projects.

What You Will Do

• Manage all aspects of multi-discipline projects and clients from the proposal process to project closeout
• Plan, direct, and coordinate activities including client meetings, public hearings, and public involvement events so that projects move forward within the prescribed time frames and budgets
• Anticipate client needs, biases, and preferences and tailor communication and work output accordingly
• Team Leadership: Leading a team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring project progress in multiple locations
• Work directly with municipal client staff to deliver CIP programs and or projects, potentially on-site in a staff augmentation setting
• Client Relations: Establishing and maintaining relationships with municipal clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring project requirements are met
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring projects comply with relevant municipal codes, regulations, and environmental standards
• Budgeting and Resource Management: Developing project budgets, allocating resources effectively, and monitoring expenditures to ensure cost control
• Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identifying potential risks and challenges, developing risk mitigation strategies, and resolving issues that may arise during project execution.
• Contract Management: Overseeing contract negotiations, reviewing contractor performance, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements
• Prepare or coordinate preparation of project / client correspondence and documentation
• Participate in and lead business development activities to new and existing clients through the following activities: plans, leads and participates in client meetings and networking events
• Continuous Improvement: Identifying opportunities for process improvements, implementing best practices, and promoting innovation within the municipal engineering department
• Understanding of alternative funding sources for municipal projects, and ability to secure funding

What You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school
• Registration as a professional engineer (or the ability to obtain registration within six months)
• 8+ years municipal experience; direct experience working for a municipality
• Our preferred candidate would have experience in managing municipal CIP programs and projects, clients, and staff in this market
• A history in delivering projects with positive customer service experiences
• The ability and desire to develop an understanding of, or even anticipate the client’s needs
