Job summary

CPG is seeking a Senior Project Manager for commissioning of data center projects. This remote role requires driving success across all phases, coordinating with design-build teams, and ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years in construction/CX project management, MEP experience, and a PMP (preferred). Proficiency with PROCORE and MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of construction/CX project management experience.
  • Datacenter experience preferred; MEP construction management experience required.
  • PMP certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership across all commissioning phases for multiple data center projects.
  • Oversee design phases, meetings, milestones, and monthly reporting.
  • Manage day-to-day office and field operations and subcontractor coordination.
  • Coordinate with design-build contractors and internal stakeholders.
  • Submit monthly project financial reporting and verify contractor billing.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Facilitate hand-off of project documents to the customer and close-out activities.

Senior Project Manager – Commissioning

Location: Remote

Position Summary

As Senior Project Manager you will be responsible for providing overall leadership and driving success of multiple facets of data center projects. The position covers all aspects of commissioning. Areas of expertise require autonomy and independent discretion in the following areas:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • RFP development and budgeting
  • Pre-bid oversight and coordination
  • Managing all design phases and documents
  • Conduct project meetings, publish, and distribute minutes, develop milestones, and maintain monthly reports
  • Manage day-to-day office and field operations.
  • Review the plans and specifications for constructability and construction schedules. Advise the project team of any issues or deficiencies.
  • Prepare, manage, and update the detailed project schedule with sequence and activity duration including procurement items.
  • Customer engagement for sales and fulfillment of requirements
  • Coordination and supervision of design-build contractors
  • Coordination with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Oversight of physical construction activities
  • Participation in commissioning
  • The management of close out and hand-off of physical data center and project documents to customer
  • Collaborate with the design team, operators, and clients
  • Submit monthly project financial reporting, including forecasting, cash-flow, etc.
  • Review monthly contractor billing and perform job walks to substantiate progress
  • Keeps all relative parties informed of progress throughout the life of the project
  • Develop, manage, maintain, and assist with contract negotiation of new and existing vendors
  • Oversee RFI and Submittal Review Process
  • Manage the Change Order Process with Owner and Subcontractors
  • Manage input and delivery of work products from internal team members to ensure that new data center spaces comply with the project requirements, customer requirements, all engineering standards, applicable codes, and specifications.
  • Understand project budget/estimate and budget set-up
  • Develop and understand trade contractor and supplier contract scopes, with a constant focus on procurement and lead-time of materials to maintain schedule
  • Develop, document, and drive lessons learned, process improvements, cost, and schedule savings initiatives throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with the proposal team to coordinate design criteria with budgetary issues and ongoing maintenance and operation of existing facilities.
  • Awareness of the importance of mission-critical facility operation
  • Safety standards knowledge and enforcement. (OSHA 30 Hour preferred)
  • Schedule shifts may incl nights/weekends as per bell curve requirements
  • Additional duties may be assigned as project needs adjust at Management’s discretion
Qualifications

Education / Experience (Desired)
  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, or a similar field, or equivalent experience
  • PMP is a plus
  • 10+ years of experience in managing construction and/or CX projects required
  • Datacenter experience is preferred
  • Experience in MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is a requirement
Computer Skills
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
  • Proficient in PROCORE
Certificates and Licenses
  • No certificates or licenses required
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise one or more Project Manager, Project Coordinator, or Assistant PM or combination of various roles
