Job summary

Emerson Power & Water Solutions in Cranberry Township, PA is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer to lead the execution of advanced automation, microgrid, and data center control projects.

You will drive design, configuration, and delivery across power, industrial, and mission-critical environments. You will guide control system architecture, troubleshoot, and make technical decisions while partnering with cross-functional teams and customers to ensure project success.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in an engineering environment, preferably within industrial, power, or utility sectors.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with control systems, automation platforms, or distributed control architectures.
  • Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary technical projects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to engage confidently with customers and present technical concepts.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Support the development of internal tools, processes, and methodologies that enhance project quality, efficiency, and repeatability.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive continuous improvement and solution innovation.

As a Sr. Project Engineer - Microgrids & Data Centers, you will lead the execution of complex controls and automation projects, including distributed control systems, microgrid controls, and specialized applications supporting data centers and resilient energy systems. Based in our Cranberry Township, PA office, you will join our Power & Water Solutions organization as part of a team delivering advanced automation, controls, and software solutions across the power, water, and critical‑infrastructure industries.

  • Familiarity with electrical switchgear and substation control.
  • Knowledge of power generation, water/wastewater, or industrial process operations.
  • Experience leading workshops, training, or technical design sessions.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current on developments in automation and digital technologies.
  • Familiarity with data communication protocols – SCADA, GOOSE, DNP3, etc.
