What You'll Be Doing
Job Scope:

The Project Engineer is responsible for all mechanical and electrical related issues in projects, supporting two paper machines, power and recovery, pulp, woodyard, recaust, bleaching, and sodium hypochlorite plant. Acts as a team member of various project teams where capital improvements have been identified against specific business issues. Serves as a coordinator or idea hub for improvement techniques and implementation strategies. Understands and aligns business operations and Engineering in executing their role to exceed customer expectations and meet business, cultural, financial, and operational objectives. Actively participates in plant safety, housekeeping, and continuous improvement efforts.

Primary Responsibilities Will Include But Not Be Limited To
  • Develop, design, and estimate costs for electrical/mechanical product or plant system installations.
  • Manage capital projects to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Analyze specifications and performance requirements to determine feasible designs with existing facilities and methods.
  • Assess feasibility of designing new or modifying existing plant equipment considering costs, space, time, and technical factors.
  • Provide technical info on manufacturing or processing techniques, materials, and properties affecting plant and product planning.
  • Direct and coordinate manufacturing or construction of machine improvements and plant systems.
  • Evaluate engineering test results for potential applications.
  • Collaborate with maintenance to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues.
  • Lead piping, structural steel, and civil design efforts.
  • Consult with engineers and personnel to implement procedures, resolve malfunctions, and provide technical info.
  • Research and evaluate design proposals, specifications, and manuals for feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.
  • Specify system components or direct modifications to ensure conformance with design and performance specs.
  • Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical systems and processes.
  • Investigate equipment failures and provide recommendations.
  • Support safety, environmental, quality, cost, productivity, and continuous improvement goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Background
  • Education: Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical, Chemical, or Bio-Medical Engineering.
  • Registration: PE and/or PMP highly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in engineering and project management, with 5+ years in Pulp and Paper.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of Hargrove project procedures, standards, and controls.
  • Proficiency in complex project management and team leadership.
  • Understanding of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and handle stress effectively.
  • Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and mentoring skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods.
