Job summary

B&G Foods is seeking a Sr. Project Engineer in Iowa to plan, execute, and finalize capital projects on a strict timeline and budget. You will lead process design, controls, and optimization across the supply chain, coaching teams in lean practices and food safety.

The role requires 7+ years of project management in food manufacturing, a related engineering degree, and Six Sigma/Lean certification. HACCP preferred, with strong communication and math skills to drive improvements.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of project management experience in a food/beverage manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor's degree in industrial or chemical engineering is required.
• Six Sigma or Lean certification is required; HACCP certification preferred.
• Demonstrated experience executing process improvement projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform process design, scope validation, development, and implementation of capital projects as assigned.
• Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend budget changes where necessary.
• Evaluate, develop, and implement core manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Lead troubleshooting of manufacturing inefficiencies and quality opportunities across the supply chain.
• Develop and implement continuous improvement and food safety projects across the co-manufacturing environment.
• Analyze and develop action plans to meet customer and internal requirements.
• Conduct post mortems and create recommendations reports for project elements.
• Perform risk assessments of equipment and processes used throughout the supply chain.
• Evaluate and execute capacity improvement projects as needed.
• Present data, findings, and final reports to team members and stakeholders.
• Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement practices.

The role of the Sr. Project Engineer is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. The Sr. Project Engineer will provide tactical leadership for process design, operations process controls, and process optimization. He/she shall identify and execute performance/process improvements, cost savings initiatives, and quality and food safety improvements across the internal and external supply chain. The Sr. Project Engineer will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. Lastly, the Sr. Project Engineer will coach and train site/functional members on methodologies, philosophies, core objectives, process improvements, and food safety improvements as directed.

Responsibilities:

Experience, Skills, Education:

• At least 7 years of project management experience within a food/beverage manufacturing environment.
• A bachelors degree in industrial, chemical engineering, or a related field is required.
• A Six Sigma or Lean certification is required, HACCP certification is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience executing process improvement projects.
• Ability to directly supervise project engineers
• Demonstrated experience with a variety of manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated experience in quality systems and food safety.
• Possess a strong knowledge of lean manufacturing programs.
• Possess proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite & Graphic Design Programs.
• Must have project management skills.
• Must have communication skills.
• Must have mathematical skills.
