B&G Foods Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer to work closely with operations, maintenance and production teams to standardize settings and maximize throughput. This role involves creating troubleshooting guides and serving as the liaison among departments to clearly define responsibilities.

Candidate should have 3-5 years in engineering and maintenance, with experience in consumer products and food packaging, plus proficiency in Excel, JD Edwards and CMMS systems. Bachelor's degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts daily with operations to optimize and balance production through standard machine settings.
  • Works with OEMs and service groups to understand machine functionality and service requirements, and edits PM documentation with the Reliability Engineer.
  • Defining and standardizing procedures for critical equipment between operations and maintenance.
  • Documents troubleshooting steps from recent failures for production operators as a reference before maintenance calls.
  • Participates in ACE program to drive engagement across the business at all levels.
  • Create and track metrics showing improvements in both operations and maintenance performance.
  • Leads co-ops and internship programs with project plans across plants and HR.
  • Supports plant capital planning, damage reports, and project savings.

Position Summary

The Process Engineer works closely with employees to understand machine functionality and performance, then identifying ways to standardize settings to maximize throughput. Will serve as a liaison between the warehouse, production, and maintenance teams. Standardize and document change over procedures to clearly define roles and responsibilities across departments. Also work to provide troubleshooting guides to employees establishing clear expectations and responsibilities for the operations and maintenance teams.

Essential Duties
  • 25% Interacts daily with operation personnel to understand process and create standard machine setting to optimize and balance production.
  • 20% Works with OEMs and their respective service groups to understand machine functionality and service requirements, works with Reliability Engineer to edit PM documentation.
  • 20% Serves as liaison between operations and maintenance to define and standardize procedures for critical pieces of equipment.
  • 10% Documents troubleshooting procedures based on recent failures to be used by production operators, providing a resource prior to calling for maintenance support.
  • 10% Participates in ACE program as required to help drive engagement and participation across all levels of the business.
  • 5% Create and track metrics to show improvement in both operations and maintenance performance over time.
  • 5% Leads co-ops, creating project plans and integrating with both other plants and the HR department creating a rewarding program that benefits both the students and the company.
  • 5% Supports plant capital planning, damage reports, and project savings as required.

Minimum Experience: 3-5 years

University degree or college diploma in the field of engineering (4 year).

3-5 years’ experience working in engineering and maintenance. Experience in consumer products and food packaging.

Minimum Qualifications – Education, Skills & Abilities:

Minimum Formal Education: Bachelor Degree

Equipment/Software Experience:

Functional experience in use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Knowledge of Database structures is a plus. Working knowledge of JD Edwards and prior experience with CMMS systemsis a plus.

Skills and Abilities:
  • 1) Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • 4) Analytical skills to identify savings.
  • 6) Ability to report all food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action and follow GMP
Supervisory/Functional Management Requirements:

Manages a single function with supervisory responsibility and has budget responsibility

List titles and grade levels of direct reports
  • Individual contributor but oversees Coops and Interns.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands:
Physical:

Job often requires confined sitting, climbing, crouching kneeling, finger/hand dexterity, standing and walking.

Overtime may be required in meet project deadlines.

Some travel may be required for project research, training, etc.

Sensory:

Ability to communicate via speaking, listening and visual means.

Ability to give verbal direction and negotiate. Ability to use visual means to convey drawings and specifications of work task.

Mental/Reasoning:

Ability to use analytical skills to determine the correct course of action.

Ability to leverage math skills to reduce risk and manage budget accuracies.

Ability to manage several projects at the same time.
