Job summary

Amazon's Middle Mile Transportation Technology team seeks a Sr. Program Manager to lead scheduling optimization and governance across vendors, warehouses, and carriers. You will drive data-driven improvements, stakeholder alignment, and cost optimization for a high-volume network.

You will collaborate with operations, technology, and planning teams to build scalable processes and rigorous metrics, delivering strategic roadmaps and tangible results to senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience.
  • 3+ years of data visualization and reports tools experience.
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements.
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (pivot tables, charts, lookups, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Creating and implementing data driven improvements to Amazon's transportation network.
  • Designing and implementing feedback mechanisms to drive performance and cost improvement.
  • Deep dive into data to perform root-cause analysis and produce actionable solutions.

Amazon's Middle Mile Transportation Technology team is chartered with building complex software solutions that work across our vendors, warehouses and carriers to optimize both time & cost of getting the packages delivered. Our services already handle thousands of requests per second, make business decisions impacting billions of dollars a year, integrate with a network of small and large carriers, owner operators and drivers worldwide, manage business rules for millions of unique products, and improve ordering and delivery experience for millions of online shoppers. Our mission is to build the most efficient and optimal transportation solution on the planet, using our technology and engineering muscle as our biggest advantage. We aim to leverage advanced technologies in big data, machine learning, and optimization techniques, and operate high volume, low latency, and high availability services. We are looking for a Sr. Program Manager to be part of Middle Mile supply and routing optimization team.

As part of this team you would work on program management for scheduling optimization, work with business stakeholders to drive process improvement, generate ideas, and validate entitlement based on true production behavior. You will draw upon advanced analytical, problem solving skills, and passion for delivering business insights and analytics through long form documents to senior leadership.

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains. As a multi-discipline leader, the buck will stop with you - you will work as part of the engineering organization. This role will have high level visibility due to the nature of the analyses being maintained, built, and the network impact of analysis conducted. This role has great exposure to a broad scope that can really help shape the future of operational fulfillment and promotes career progression.

Key job responsibilities

  • Ability to deep dive and do root-cause analysis using data, and create metrics-driven, actionable, and sustainable solutions for the future
  • Retrieving and analysing large sets of data using Excel, SQL, and other data management systems.
  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally across multiple teams in operations, technology and planning to define strategic roadmaps while keeping the impact of the solution to all stakeholders in mind
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years of program or project management experience
  • 3+ years of data visualization and reports tools experience
  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
  • Knowledge of Excel at an intermediate level (e.g., pivot tables & charts, multiple criteria lookups, nested logical/IF formulas, data cleansing, array formulas, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organisational development, instructional design or related field
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
