Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Work with chain on promotions and menu changes, ensure information is accurate for planned activity, identify risks and issues.
  • Analyze and load promotional forecast data into purchasing system; address forecast concerns and inventory build.
  • Purchase or monitor purchases across all divisions to support promotions; monitor build-up and sell-through to prevent obsolescence.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address fulfillment issues and product supply quality concerns; escalate as needed.
  • Communicate timing and circumstances of promotions to Chain, Franchisees, Distribution Centers, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate auto-shipments, restrictions, or allocations to support promotions and manage tight supplies.
  • Ensure accuracy of customer order guides with the C.O.M. Team.
  • Participate in purchasing group calls and reviews for key initiatives.
  • Determine franchise/store participation in promotions and maintain compliance with requests.
  • Work with chain/brand customers to address slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
  • Help construct shelf life matrices to optimize purchasing and reduce spoilage.
  • Understand McLane Foodservice requirements related to inbound freight and recalls; coordinate with QA and DC.
  • Oversee billing and collection related to inventory transfers, storage fees, recalls, etc.
  • Manage special projects related to chains, inventory or other needs.

This position will require the candidate to report and work from the office on a regular basis. Therefore, interested candidates should be within a 50-minute radius from Rocky Mount, NC.

This position is responsible to manage through supply disruptions and shortages of critical items to minimize the impact. Ensure adequate inventory of all new or promotional products is on hand in all locations to support the marketing efforts of our customers. Manage sell-through of inventory to limit financial exposure associated with obsolescence. Communicate within the organization, with customers and suppliers regarding promotional efforts or activity needed to successfully support the initiative. The purchase of promotional stocks has significant implications within the business. Dollar expenditures are routinely seven figures. Purchasing decisions impact division capacity and manpower planning as well as inbound freight. Failure to properly execute will result in losses for involved customers and badly tarnish the image of McLane. Repeated failures could lead to loss of the account.

What You’ll Do As a Program Manager
  • Work with chain on promotions and menu changes. Ensure information provided is accurate and sufficient to support the planned activity. Identify and discuss potential risks and issues. Review and monitor new item and/or new vendor set up requests for reasonableness and accuracy of data.
  • Analyze and load promotional forecast data into purchasing system. Work with concept to address concerns with the forecast or promotional inventory build. Provide solutions to meet tight deadlines.
  • Purchase or monitor the purchase of all items across all divisions in support of chain promotional efforts. Monitor the build-up and sell-through of inventory to ensure against inventory obsolescence.
  • Work with suppliers to address fulfillment issues and raise concerns related to product supply chain issues such as packaging or handling requirements. Elevate issues to management and/or concept purchasing as required to ensure supply and product integrity.
  • Communicate to all affected parties the timing and special circumstances associated with promotions, new items, item replacements, limited time offers, toy items etc. Interactions will include Chain personnel, Franchisees, Distribution Centers, Pricing, Logistics, Accounting, IT and others.
  • Coordinate and monitor auto-shipments, restrictions or allocations to support chain or manage tight supplies.
  • Work with C.O.M. Team to ensure accuracy of customer order guides
  • Provide supply chain expertise. Participate in chain and/or concept purchasing group conference calls and business reviews, conferences, summits, etc.
  • Determine franchise- and store-level participation in promotions and special product offerings. Obtain documentation and maintain compliance with AIP requests.
  • Work with chain or brand customers/franchisees to address slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
  • Work with chain to ensure shelf life matrices are constructed in a manner that allows efficient purchasing and minimizes spoilage.
  • Understand McLane Foodservice and chain quality/food safety requirements as they relate to inbound freight, product storage and recalls/withdrawals. Work with chain QA, DC and other parties to help resolve issues with inbound or received product.
  • Responsible for billing and collection of funds due resulting from inventory transfers, storage fees, product recalls, vendor shipping errors etc.
  • Manage special projects related to chains, inventory or other business needs involving supply chain.
