Job summary

Amazon is seeking an experienced Production Planner in North Reading, MA to optimize production planning, scheduling, capacity, and inventory. You will lead end-to-end planning initiatives, transition to modern planning platforms, and drive automation to improve service levels and reduce costs.

You will partner with manufacturing, procurement, and logistics to deliver realistic, data-driven plans, monitor KPIs, and support new product introductions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of experience in supply chain or planning.
  • Experience in materials management, MRP, and inventory optimization.
  • Experience automating processes and presenting results to leaders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams across geographies.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain production schedules considering constraints.
  • Optimize sequence to minimize changeovers and maximize throughput.
  • Develop short-, medium-, and long-term capacity models.

We are seeking an experienced Production Planner to optimize production planning, lead strategic initiatives, and partner across the organization to delight our customers.

At the core of the Production Planner role is driving end‑to‑end planning excellence through the strategic implementation of advanced supply chain planning technology and optimized workflows. This leader serves as a subject matter expert, guiding the transition from legacy systems to a modern, integrated planning platform. They oversee the execution of critical planning processes, including production scheduling, material requirements planning, capacity planning, and inventory optimization, and partner cross‑functionally to streamline planning, eliminate manual tasks, and enhance capabilities to improve customer service, reduce costs, and optimize working capital. Leveraging data, analytics, and automation, they generate realistic and achievable plans aligned with the company's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain production schedules considering equipment, labor, and material constraints
  • Perform sequence optimization to minimize changeovers and maximize manufacturing throughput
  • Develop and maintain short‑term, medium‑term, and long‑term capacity models
  • Identify and resolve capacity bottlenecks through constraint analysis and simulation
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels and replenishment strategies to optimize working capital
  • Participate in S&OP process to align supply plans with demand forecasts
  • Release and manage work orders through their complete lifecycle
  • Set‑up and maintain Bills of Distribution and Sourcing Rules
  • Leverage planning systems and analytics to generate optimized supply plans
  • Develop capacity modeling tools using SQL, Python, and visualization platforms
  • Monitor KPIs including schedule adherence, inventory turns, and supplier delivery
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and logistics on supply plan execution
  • Partner with engineering on routings and resource rates for capacity planning
  • Communicate supply‑related risks and mitigation plans to stakeholders
  • Support new product introduction projects for supply planning requirements
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years of professional or military experience
  • Knowledge of materials management processes, including inventory management, purchasing, warehouse management, and material requirements planning
  • Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis, or experience communicating results to senior leadership
  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross‑functional teams across geographies and business units
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and process improvement methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Kinaxis Author or Advanced User certification
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification

Base salary range: $121,200.00 – $163,900.00 USD annually (depending on experience, qualifications, and location).
