Job summary

Provation is seeking a Sr Product Owner in Phoenix, AZ. In this role, you will ensure that product features deliver real customer and business value. You'll work closely with stakeholders and development teams to align on product vision and manage the backlog effectively.

A successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 4-7 years of experience, preferably in healthcare. The salary range is $109,700.00 – $183,200.00 with eligibility for bonuses.

Job description

The Sr Product Owner plays a critical role in ensuring that a product or feature is developed with a focus on delivering value to the customer and the business. They act as a voice for the customer and are responsible for making key product-related decisions throughout the development process, including identifying opportunities to incorporate emerging technologies, such as AI-enabled capabilities, where they can improve user experience, workflow efficiency, and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Vision & Stakeholder Alignment – Work with stakeholders to translate the future vision and requirements into clearly broken-down epics and stories; ensure all team members understand and align with product goals, including consideration of emerging technologies where appropriate.
  • Stakeholder Communication – Act as the primary point of contact between the development team and stakeholders; communicate progress, changes, and updates regularly.
  • Team Enabler – Work with one or more Agile Development Teams and act as a central reference and information source, guiding system/product functionality decisions.
  • Entrepreneurial Spirit – Demonstrate a track record of delivering results in fast‑moving, demanding environments.
  • Backlog Ownership & Prioritization – Create and maintain the product backlog; prioritize features, user stories, and tasks based on business value, customer needs, market trends, and strategic opportunities.
  • Backlog Management – Continuously groom and refine the backlog based on feedback, changing priorities, and new insights.
  • Feedback Integration – Gather and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and end‑users into the backlog; adjust as necessary.
  • Requirements & Customer Experience – Break down high-level requirements into detailed, implementable user stories that meet strong Agile standards and support effective workflows, automation, and decision support where applicable.
  • Acceptance Criteria – Define clear acceptance criteria so the team understands what constitutes "done" for each feature.
  • UI/UX Alignment – Partner with UX to ensure backlog items have wireframes and UI designs ready for sprint planning; provide design feedback, participate in design sprints, and support user acceptance testing.
  • Sprint Planning – Participate in sprint planning to select stories and tasks; ensure the team has a clear understanding of work scope.
  • Release Planning – Collaborate with the team and stakeholders to plan and prioritize releases aligned with market needs and business goals.
  • Quality Assurance – Ensure the product meets quality standards by accepting or rejecting work during sprint reviews.
  • Risk Management – Identify and mitigate delivery risks; partner with the release manager on timelines, tough conversations, mitigation strategies, and transparent escalation to leadership.
  • Business Case Support – Assist in developing and presenting business cases for new features and initiatives; ensure alignment with strategic goals and stakeholder expectations.
  • Data-Driven – Define KPIs and measures for features and capabilities to track impact and inform decisions.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • 4–7 years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with Product and Development tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira or similar tools
  • Healthcare and technical expertise are highly preferred, including experience with data, API integrations, and interoperability standards such as HL7 and FHIR
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, evaluate outcomes, and assess opportunities related to emerging technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, where applicable
  • Leadership and decision‑making skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities
  • Understanding of the industry, market trends, and customer needs
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, UI/UX, Product Management, leadership, and internal and external stakeholders
  • Travel up to 30%
Benefits

This position is also eligible for bonus as part of the total compensation package.

Pay Range

The salary range for this position (in local currency) is 109,700.00 – 183,200.00.
