Job summary

SPX Technologies is seeking a Senior Product Manager, Aviation, to lead the holistic aviation product portfolio across airfield lighting systems and related products. You will bridge engineering, commercial, and customer-facing teams to align to voice of customer, margins, and performance criteria.

You will manage a global aviation product management team, drive roadmaps, pricing, and positioning, and ensure regulatory and security compliance across initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years in product management or similar role in manufacturing or industrial environments
  • 5+ years in multi-disciplinary team leadership against global KPIs
  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements into engineering specs
  • Excellent communication across internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of product life cycle management and pricing strategies
  • Understanding regulatory and compliance standards in aviation markets

How You Will Make An Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As the Senior Product Manager, Aviation, you will drive and manage the holistic Aviation product portfolio—including associated product developments and roadmaps—ensuring alignment to voice of customer, business margin, and performance criteria. You will lead the global Aviation product management team, bridge engineering, commercial, and customer-facing teams, and serve as the technical expert supporting our aviation solutions across airfield ground lighting systems and related products.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)
  • Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
  • Define, prioritize, and communicate aviation product roadmaps aligned with business strategy and customer needs
  • Define and maintain a clear product vision and multi-year roadmap aligned to business strategy and market priorities
  • Maintain product lifecycles including upgrades and obsolescence management
  • Make trade-off decisions to optimize value, cost, quality, and speed to market
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and adoption
  • Develop and maintain product pricing and positioning strategies
  • Assess market competition by comparing products against competitors, maintain a comprehensive competitor price and feature matrix
  • Customer & Market Leadership
  • Identify and validate customer, user, and stakeholder needs through data, research, and direct engagement
  • Identify and monitor market trends and opportunities for new product and solution development
  • Build business cases with support from sales and marketing to support new product and solution initiatives
  • Recommend the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing market specifications and requirements
  • Conduct relevant market research and provide market share analysis for global territories
  • Serve as the primary advocate for aviation solutions across the organization—communicating strategy, progress, and value to all levels
  • Ensure solutions meet security, compliance, data privacy, and enterprise architecture standards
  • Cross-Functional Delivery & Commercialization
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration among engineering, marketing, sales, and operations teams to deliver integrated aviation solutions
  • Generate all new product development requirements and work closely with engineering teams to ensure products meet requirements and market needs
  • Lead all product launches including working with engineering, marketing, sales, and operations, ensuring launch plans align with corporate goals
  • Support go-to-market execution, commercialization, and continuous improvement post-launch
  • Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and delivery teams
  • Communicate product progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership with clarity and transparency
  • Champion user-centric design and continuous feedback loops
  • Partner with change management and communications teams to drive adoption and value realization
  • Generate new product documentation, including part number schemas, specification sheets, user manuals, etc.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration
  • Manage global Aviation product management team including prioritization, capacity, and performance
  • Provide information for management by preparing short-term and long-term product demand, launch status, and sales results from NPDs
  • Conduct technical training, including internal training for all staff and external events such as masterclasses, distributor conferences, customer site visits, etc.
  • Represent SPX AtoN at any relevant industrial associations
  • Actively travel and support sales, customers, and partners as required
  • Collaborate with global sales and marketing colleagues
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends relevant to the aviation product domain
  • Drive continuous improvement through experimentation, iteration, and data-driven decision-making
  • Retire or rationalize low-value features and technical debt where appropriate
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and coordinating and contributing to the Technical Training program
  • Follow safe work practices and procedures and ensure a "safety first" culture in every task undertaken
  • Contribute towards an inclusive and positive work environment
What we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)
Required Experience
  • 7+ years of experience in product management or similar role, ideally in a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • 5+ years of experience in direct multi-disciplinary team management against global functional targets and KPIs
  • Proven success leading cross-functional teams and translating customer requirements into actionable engineering specifications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with both internal and external stakeholders across all organizational levels
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing effective production performance
  • Strong understanding of market concepts with an emphasis on effectively managing and implementing product life cycle management
  • Ability to work and influence across functions to deliver successful projects
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Relevant industry experience, preferably previous experience in Airfield Ground Lighting (Aviation) products and systems
  • Experience with technical product launches and commercialization in global markets
  • Strong influence, facilitation, and leadership skills in matrixed environments
  • Experience managing pricing strategies and competitive positioning
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards in aviation markets
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Project Engineering, or Technical Product Management preferred; MBA preferred.
Travel & Working Environment
  • 25% Travel Domestic and International as required
