Job summary

Vivint Smart Home, an NRG-owned company, seeks a Senior Product Manager II to own the core customer experience for arming and protecting the home. You will translate usage patterns and outcomes into reliable, safer experiences with reduced false alarms and easier automation.

You will partner with engineering, design, monitoring operations and care teams to define great experiences, establish go-to-market plans, and measure adoption and trust across the platform.

Qualifications

• 5 years of product management experience shipping consumer hardware-plus-software, IoT, automation or connected-home products.
• Experience designing customer journeys across education, setup, daily use, automation and high-stress moments.
• Proven ability to partner with technical teams to translate complex system behaviors into customer value.
• Strong product judgment around trust, privacy, safety and customer control in home environments.
• Experience using data, insights and feedback to size problems, prioritize tradeoffs and measure results.
• Clear written and verbal communication to align senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-native product development tools across the lifecycle.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Rethink alarm moments to reduce fear and confusion while ensuring safety and compliance for monitored security.
• Partner with marketing on go-to-market plans for arming, disarming and alarm confidence experiences.
• Define zero-touch arming and disarming experiences and automation opportunities.
• Make it easier for customers to create automations and shortcuts around arming/disarming (schedule-based, presence-based, routine-based).
• Explore occupancy models and contextual signals to improve home-state understanding and save automation errors.
• Write requirements, lead discovery, align stakeholders and ship on cadence with engineering and QA.
• Set and report on metrics like arming adoption, false alarms, automation usage and customer confidence.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Product Manager II to own the core customer experience and value proposition for arming and protecting the home. This role will deeply understand customer usage patterns, pain points and decision drivers for when people do and do not arm their system, then translate those insights into clear, reliable experiences that build confidence, reduce false alarms and help customers feel protected without added effort.

You will partner closely with engineering, design, monitoring operations, home management partners, customer care and product peers to define what great looks like. You will identify where customers lose confidence in arming, disarming, and alarm response, then ship improvements that make the security experience feel easier, calmer and more trustworthy.

What You'll Do

• Own and evolve the arming confidence roadmap, translating customer behavior, business goals and security outcomes into a prioritized set of experiences, experiments and platform investments.
• Design guided onboarding, training and reminder experiences that start on day one, using trust-building exercises, progress cues and light gamification to help customers build confidence and habits over time.
• Rethink active alarm moments to reduce fear, panic and unnecessary confusion while helping customers and monitoring teams respond quickly-all while maintaining the safety, reliability and compliance expectations required for professionally monitored security experiences.
• Partner with product peers on alarm notification strategy, including clearer real-time updates, fewer redundant messages and better escalation paths.
• Define zero-touch arming and disarming experiences, including when automation is appropriate, how customers stay in control and how the system communicates decisions.
• Make it easier for customers to create automations and shortcuts around arming and disarming, including schedule-based, presence-based and routine-based behaviors.
• Explore occupancy models and contextual signals that can help the system better understand whether someone is home, away or in transition, while safely supporting auto disarm, temporary bypass or smarter handling of sensor activity.
• Write clear requirements, lead discovery, align stakeholders and ship on a predictable cadence with engineering, design, QA, monitoring and customer care.
• Partner with marketing to build go-to-market plans for new arming, disarming and alarm confidence experiences.
• Set and report on metrics that matter, including arming adoption, false alarm reduction, alarm comprehension, automation usage and customer confidence.

What You'll Bring

• 5 years of product management experience, with meaningful experience shipping consumer hardware-plus-software, IoT, automation, security or connected-home products.
• Experience designing customer journeys that span education, setup, daily use, automation, escalation and high-stress moments.
• A track record of partnering with technical teams to make complex system behaviors understandable and valuable to customers.
• Strong product judgment around trust, privacy, safety, and customer control in the home, with experience navigating regulated or certified product environments where compliance, testing and documentation requirements shape product decisions.
• Comfort using data, customer insights and operational feedback to size problems, prioritize tradeoffs and measure results.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to align senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated experience using AI-native product development tools across the product lifecycle to move faster from idea to evidence, including agent-led discovery, rapid prototyping, lightweight code generation, design exploration, and collaboration with engineering to validate what should be built.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent practical experience.
