Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of cable impedance, signal integrity and debugging tools.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for new cable connectivity specifications and vendor collaboration.

Job Summary:

SuperMicro Computer is looking for a senior level internal high-speed cable engineer who is responsible for researching, designing, developing, and testing method for AI GPU system, Enterprise server storage systems, add-on cards / storage products at SuperMicro Computer Inc., to join our team in our headquarter office in San Jose, CA. This position is open to candidates who have more than 5-10 years of experience and passion high-speed cable signal integrity test and measurement methodology, PCI-e Gen5/6, Infiniband specification and future industry high-speed interface development trends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes the following essential duties and responsibilities (other duties may also be assigned):
• Responsible for New cable connectivity in system level specification, define cable pin mapping topology, create unique cable P/N based on SMC standard name rule and working with cable vendors from concept to sample cable products.
• Collaborate with related system, QA Lab validation test schedule, resolve exhibited reported problem and obtain test data until cable products official release for internal multiple systems to share same cable as goal is utilize resources that same cable use for multiple systems application.
• Responsible maintain cable apply to different systems Design Center BOM database drawing, document and revision control and update.
• Provide strong technical support to technical support team, contract manufacturers and production department during the product sample and production stages and response to customers field report issue and provide a solution to customers.
• Support cables products from initial enable to end of live technical announcement and control not to use in new design with EOL remark process.
• Review with lab Compatibility and reliability testing and release cable products in timely manner.

Qualifications:

• MSEE 5+ years or BSEE 8 + years of experiences with Internal high-speed cables connectivity.
• Direct experience in high speed I/O buses on AI GPU system NVLink, Ethernet cables, USB, PCI Express, and CXL is preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge on cable impedance, signal integrity, insertion loss, return loss, NEXT and FEXT and compatibility & reliability testing, debugging tools and software, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, etc.
• Outstanding problem-solving capabilities and strong debugging skills with in-depth knowledge of the server and storage architecture is required.
• Excellent team work player and strong communication skills;
• Self-motivated and enthusiastic towards working in fast-paced environment with ability to work independently in a highly efficient way to achieve best quality design and fast time-to-market constraint with minimal supervision.

Salary Range

$140,000 - $160,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
