Job Overview
TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products based on information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operations Teams, Development Engineers, or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications, including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality and cost, meet customer requirements, and support product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer needs. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.
Responsibilities
- High Speed IO (SR Position): Responsible for being the FAE product expert for high-speed connectors, cages, and cable assemblies from market definition through production and release. Must have complete knowledge of the Global Product Line (GPL) portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. Able to advise on product extensions, feature modifications, and alternative interconnector solutions within DDN’s portfolio.
- Power: Responsible for being the FAE product expert for power connectors, bus bars, and cable assemblies, from market definition through production and release. Must have complete knowledge of the GPL portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. Able to advise on product extensions, feature modifications, and alternative solutions.
- ICC: Responsible for being the FAE product expert for Internal Connector and Cable Assemblies, from market definition through production and release. Must have complete knowledge of the GPL portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. Able to advise on product extensions, feature modifications, and alternative solutions.
Responsible for product development of high-speed cable assembly, power connector, and power cable assembly solutions from market definition through production and release:
- Work closely with customers and TE sales/SA/FAE/PM to gather VOC and convert it into design conceptualization and specifications.
- Conceive concepts and perform feasibility studies.
- Run mechanical and thermal simulations.
- Make engineering evaluations and proposals to customers.
- Create detailed designs, including 2D/3D drawings, and perform DFMEA/tolerance analysis.
- Build prototypes and validate them.
- Provide technical support to Operations, Quality, and Production for efficiency and safe launch.
- Resolve product issues, manage ECN/PCN.
- Understand market and customer needs, connecting engineering teams with customers.
- Maintain a system-level understanding of customer applications and product designs.
- Provide technical support, conduct tests, troubleshooting, and verification.
- Collaborate with global manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to meet technical, quality, and cost objectives.
- Document designs, changes, and history files.
Required Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years relevant experience in mechanical engineering related to electrical components, device design, tooling, or process development.
- Knowledge in socket, connector design, or related mechanical design.
- Experience with switch or server equipment is a plus.
- Skills in material selection, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, qualification processes.
- Proficiency in 3D design tools (e.g., ProE, Spaceclaim).
- Basic understanding of raw materials, industry standards, and applications.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes (molding, stamping, machining, etc.).
- Familiarity with quality tools (FMEA, Six Sigma, DOE, 8D).
- Ability to work across global teams and time zones.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $100,200 - $150,300, dependent on location and experience. Includes base, incentives, and benefits such as health insurance, 401(k), disability, life insurance, stock purchase, paid time off, and voluntary benefits.
