Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Product Engineering Teams optimize existing products based on information or input provided by marketing, customers, Operation Teams, Development Engineers, or other employees. They maintain existing products, processes, and specifications, including modifications for new applications consistent with manufacturing techniques and economies. They also initiate and implement programs to continuously improve quality and cost, while meeting customer requirements, and may support and implement product extensions to existing platform products to meet specific customer needs. They are the key experts in the products they are responsible for at TE.

Responsibilities

Power

Responsible for being the FAE product expert for power connectors, bus bars, and cable assemblies, from market definition through production and release. This position must have complete knowledge of the Global Product Line (GPL) portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. The engineer must advise on product extensions, feature modifications, and alternative interconnector solutions within DDN’s portfolio.


ICC

  • Responsible for being the FAE product expert for Internal Connector and Cable Assemblies, from market definition through production and release. This position must have complete knowledge of the GPL portfolio, tooling, and manufacturing processes. The engineer must advise on product extensions, feature modifications, and alternative interconnector solutions within DDN’s portfolio.
  • Responsible for developing high-speed cable assembly, power connector, and power cable assembly solutions from market definition through production and release:
  • Work closely with customers and TE sales/SA/FAE/PM to gather VOC (voice of customer) and convert it into TE design concepts and preliminary specifications.
  • Conceptualize ideas and perform feasibility studies.
  • Run mechanical and thermal simulations.
  • Present engineering evaluations/proposals to customers.
  • Create detailed designs, including 2D/3D drawings, and perform DFMEA/tolerance analysis.
  • Build prototypes and conduct validation tests.
  • Provide technical support to Operations, Quality, and Production teams for efficiency and safe product launches.
  • Resolve product-related issues, manage ECN/PCN processes.
  • Develop a deep understanding of market and customer needs, bridging engineering teams and customers.
  • Maintain a system-level understanding of customer applications and product design to meet customer expectations.
  • Offer technical support to customers, sales, PM, and plant teams, including testing, troubleshooting, and verification.
  • Collaborate with global manufacturing, procurement, and suppliers to meet technical, quality, and cost goals.
  • Document designs, requirements, and changes comprehensively.
What your background should look like:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience with electrical components, devices, mechanical design, tooling development, or manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge in socket design, connector design, or relevant mechanical development.
  • Familiarity with switch and server equipment.
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles, including material selection, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and qualification.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., ProE or Spaceclaim).
  • Basic knowledge of raw materials, industry standards, and applications.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes like machining, molding, stamping, plating, and assembly.
  • Knowledge of quality tools such as FMEA, Six Sigma, DOE, 8D.
  • Ability to work globally, accommodating different time zones and collaborating across geographies.
  • Open-minded, eager to learn, and motivated to grow.

COMPENSATION

• Competitive base salary: $86,100 - 129,200 (dependent on location and experience).
• Salaries are subject to adjustments for qualifications and internal/external equity.
• Total Compensation includes Base Salary, Incentives, and Benefits.
