Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent years of design experience.
• 2 years of related experience designing toys from concept to production.
• Strong knowledge of hardlines categories, materials, and manufacturing.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in 3D product design, technical design, sketching, and art manipulation.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design and packaging development for Disney Pixar toys (action figures, vehicles, plush, roleplay).
• Build and maintain relationships with licensees and vendors across creative development.
• Manage product approvals in OPA, prioritizing timelines.
• Ensure design excellence with artwork and revisions for new initiatives.

Disney Experiences is hiring a Sr Product Designer for Hard lines to help bring dynamic Disney Pixar consumer products to life. This contract role supports seasonal growth across action figures, vehicles, plush, and roleplay, with hands-on involvement in product design, packaging development, and collaboration with Pixar content partners and external licensees.

The position is onsite in Glendale, CA and reports to the Manager, Global Product Design, Hardlines Disney and Pixar. Compensation for this Glendale, CA role ranges from $95,500 to $128,000 per year, with additional potential for a bonus and/or long-term incentive units, plus a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits depending on the level and position offered.

What you’ll do

• Lead product design and packaging development for Disney Pixar toys, including action figures, vehicles, plush, and roleplay.
• Build and maintain relationships with licensees and vendors, contributing across all creative aspects of product development.
• Manage product approvals, including creative revisions and detailed comments through OPA (Online Product Approval software), prioritizing approvals within allotted time.
• Ensure product design excellence by making character and product corrections, creating new artwork, and contributing artistically to new initiatives.
• Apply knowledge of market trends and innovation to support stronger product outcomes.
• Develop creative ideas and product concepts that help build business.
• Present and sell ideas to management, cross-functional partners, and licensees.
• Coordinate with the Manager on new projects and scheduled deadlines.
• Work directly with key Pixar Studios content partners, managing product feedback for licensees.
• Travel is limited, focused on onsite product approvals and trade show needs.
• Bring ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness to day-to-day execution.

Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (e.g., industrial design, toy design, fashion design) or equivalent years of relevant design experience.
• 2 years of related experience designing toys, from concept through production.
• Solid knowledge of hardlines categories, including raw materials, plastic, textiles, print, pattern, graphic composition, and manufacturing.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong product design skills, such as 3D product design, technical design, sketching, creative application and manipulation of art, final mechanical art, and fabric and trim identification.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
