Job Description

The Senior Procurement Buyer plays a key role in ensuring McIver Engineering has the right materials, from the right suppliers, at the right time and cost to support our products and operations. This position combines strategic sourcing with hands‑on procurement and supplier management to ensure a reliable, efficient, and resilient supply chain.

The Senior Procurement Buyer will own the end‑to‑end purchasing process for materials and suppliers, including sourcing, contract negotiation, planning, order management, expediting, supplier performance, and risk mitigation. This role will work closely with Engineering, Operations, and other cross‑functional teams to balance cost, quality, delivery, inventory, and business priorities.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans that support business objectives and deliver measurable cost and operational improvements.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance, including quality, on‑time delivery, non‑conformances, capacity, risk, and overall responsiveness.
  • Own purchase orders from placement through delivery, proactively expediting materials and resolving issues to prevent production interruptions and workforce downtime.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal teams to ensure materials meet specifications, quality standards, and required delivery schedules.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership through pricing, sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, process improvements, and supply base optimization.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels while balancing service requirements, cash flow, lead times, and supply risk.
  • Analyze supplier and procurement data to identify trends, improve performance, and support fact‑based decision‑making.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to forecast demand, plan material requirements, resolve supply constraints, and improve overall supply chain efficiency.
  • Strengthen and rationalize the supplier base by developing high‑performing strategic partnerships and proactively addressing supplier risks.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, supplier performance, procurement efficiency, and operational reliability.
  • Establish and monitor supplier metrics aligned with company objectives and take action when performance falls short of expectations.
  • Anticipate potential supply and operational risks and develop proactive mitigation and contingency plans.

Success in this role means building a procurement function that is strategic, proactive, data‑driven, and focused on business results. Key outcomes include:

  • Reduced total cost of ownership
  • Improved revenue and gross margins
  • Stronger supplier performance and accountability
  • Improved material quality and on‑time delivery
  • Optimized and strategically aligned supplier base
  • Healthy, right‑sized inventory levels
  • Fewer production disruptions and material shortages
  • Reduced supply chain and operational risk

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • Proven track record of successful negotiation, cost reduction, and supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
