Job summary

Breezeway Corporation International is seeking a Senior Process Engineer with a strong background in liquid dairy processing to design and optimize sanitary dairy processing systems for leading dairy manufacturers. The role combines technical design with customer interaction from concept through startup.

The candidate will work on process design, audits, and FAT reviews, and may participate in remote work from the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems, or Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience designing sanitary dairy processing systems.
• Strong understanding of mass and heat transfer, process calculations, sanitary piping, CIP, PFDs and P&IDs; familiarity with 3-A, ASME, FDA, and USDA sanitary standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineering, commissioning, and optimization of dairy processing systems.
• Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs; perform mass and energy balances, heat transfer, and flow calculations.
• Lead commissioning, startup, and performance verification at customer facilities.

We're seeking a Senior Process Engineer with a strong background in liquid dairy processing who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges and working with customers from concept through startup. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to combine technical expertise with customer interaction while helping design world-class processing facilities.

What You'll Do

As a Senior Process Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, engineering, commissioning, and optimization of dairy processing systems. Responsibilities include:

• Develop process solutions for dairy manufacturing applications based on customer requirements
• Perform process audits and evaluate existing production systems
• Create conceptual process designs and support proposal development
• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
• Perform engineering calculations including:
• Mass and energy balances
• Heat transfer calculations
• Flow and pressure calculations
• Pump, valve, piping, and heat exchanger sizing
• Specify sanitary process equipment and work closely with equipment suppliers
• Support fabrication reviews, automation reviews, and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
• Lead commissioning, startup, and performance verification at customer facilities
• Troubleshoot process performance issues and implement process improvements
• Train customer operations and maintenance personnel
• Collaborate with sales, project management, automation, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems, or Electrical Engineering
• 3+ years of experience designing sanitary dairy processing systems

Strong understanding of:

• Mass and heat transfer
• Process calculations
• Sanitary piping systems
• Pump and valve sizing
• CIP (Clean-in-Place) systems
• Experience developing PFDs and P&IDs
• Familiarity with 3-A, ASME, FDA, and USDA sanitary standards
• Strong communication and customer-facing skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
