Position Overview

The Payload and Ground Systems Division at Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Systems Engineer in support of the Protected Tactical SATCOM – Resilient (PTS) program. Built in partnership with the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command, the company’s PTS-R system will deliver a modular, flexible and scalable system that offers a path toward fielding a next-generation anti-jam, protected tactical satellite communications architecture. Northrop Grumman’s system provides a dependable communications pathway for each user capable of fighting through adversaries’ attempts to disrupt connections. The position will be based 100% on-site in Redondo Beach, CA.

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Mission Operations Center (MOC) systems and network designs.
• Lead the development, integration, and optimization of operational systems.
• Design robust and scalable network architectures supporting mission-critical operations.
• Conduct system performance and functional analysis, interface definitions, risk mitigation, and system integration.
• Maintain the technical baseline and documentation.
• Drive the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Cyber Systems Engineer:

• 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 6 years with a Masters; 4 years with a PhD.

Basic Qualifications:

• Active Secret Clearance at the time of application.
• Experience with Mission Operation Centers (MOC) and network designs.
• Experience with high-performance network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, and cloud integration.
• Proven expertise in network design, routing, switching, firewalls, and protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).
• Knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes.
• Experience using the DOORS Requirements Management Database.
• Familiarity with SysML/UML and concepts.
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts and approaches.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of Ground System architecture including Spacecraft C2, TT&C, and industry establishments.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
• Active DoD Top Secret and/or SCI clearance.

Additional Information

Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00. Compensation includes potential overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, and long-term incentives.
