Skyworks Solutions, Inc. in Apopka, FL is seeking a Sr Principal RFIC Design Engineer to lead the design and development of RF LNA and switches for cellular applications, with potential SOI and BiCMOS technologies.

You will collaborate with layout designers and internal customers to optimize the RF chain and deliver high-performance modules. Required qualifications include an MSEE or PhD in RF, 10+ years in LNA/RFIC, and strong experience with HFSS, Cadence, and ADS plus RF measurements.

• Collaborate with internal module customers on die deliverables and RF chain optimization.
• Work with layout designers to apply best practices for layout and RF performance.
• Create test laminates and work with lab techs to troubleshoot measurements and perform sim-vs-meas correlation.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The design and development of RF LNA and switches for cellular applications, potentially using SOI and BiCMOS technologies
• Support standalone LNA and switch modules and theirintegration into a multi-chip module (MCM)
• Working with the internal module customers with die deliverables and optimizing the RF chain
• Working with layout designers to use best practices for layout
• Designing and using analog blocks like Bandgap, LDO, Bias circuits etc from time to time
• Creating test laminates to measurethe taped out hardware and working with Lab technicians to troubleshoot measurements issues and perform sim vs meas correlation
• Conducting peer reviews of their designs, including expected and/or actual results
• Writing regular program updates and communicate progress and issues in a clear and consise manner.
• Be able to execute to an aggressive schedule

Required Experience and Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

• MSEE or PhD in an RF related field
• >10 years of experience in LNA and/or other RFIC designs
• Extensive experience designing with HFSS, Cadence, and ADS
• Strong background with RF measurements and characterization
• Experience in standard RF design techniques and best practices
• Working knowledge of device physics for IC design, especially tradeoffs for LNA and switch configuration
• Strong background in various linear and nonlinear simulation techniques and simulators

Desired Experience and Skills

Desired Skills:

• Capable of refining their simulation results to achieve excellent predictability with the goal of first pass success
• Good communication skills
• Be able to work independently
• Knowledge of RF PA design and other large signal circuit design is considered a plus
• Candidates with successful release of production LNA and switches for mobile applications would be highly considered

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$86,600 -$182,500 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
