Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Organization Effectiveness Consultant in Linthicum, MD to advise HR and business leaders on organization design, team effectiveness, and change initiatives. The role emphasizes stakeholder engagement and data-driven recommendations for complex programs.

You will design leadership engagements, facilitate sessions, and help implement strategies that improve performance and alignment across engineering and program teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required plus 8 years of relevant experience in HR or related field; or a Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced consulting skills with the demonstrated ability to scope problems, recommend practical solutions, gain client buy-in, and deliver desired results.
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational interventions from assessment to implementation.
  • Broad experience applying best practices in organization, team and leadership effectiveness to address business issues and enhance performance.
  • Experience leading large-scale change initiatives to support business strategy.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating leadership and team engagements to meet client objectives.
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on how to use talent processes and tools to accelerate business results.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning and flexibility to manage multiple projects/clients simultaneously, mitigate and elevate risk, adapt to shifting priorities, and navigate ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills in both virtual and in-person environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint).
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance

  • Lead qualitative organization diagnostics to identify root causes, themes, and practical improvement opportunities.
  • Design and facilitate sessions with leaders and teams that build trust, clarity, and effective ways of working.
  • Support organization design efforts by helping leaders clarify objectives, roles, spans and layers, decision rights, and governance.
  • Develop and execute change management approaches emphasizing leader engagement and ownership.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to prioritize OE efforts and align with sector strategies.
  • Use data to supplement insights and strengthen recommendations.
  • Create clear presentations and materials that synthesize themes and actions for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain knowledge of organization design and change management practices in MS contexts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Leaders, business leaders, and program managers on organization effectiveness, team dynamics, and change leadership.
  • Lead qualitative organization diagnostics (e.g., stakeholder interviews, focus groups, facilitated assessments, leadership and team working sessions) to identify root causes, themes, and practical improvement opportunities.
  • Design and facilitate sessions with leaders and teams (e.g., strategy alignment, team launches/resets, role and responsibility clarification, collaboration and conflict working sessions) that build trust, clarity, and effective ways of working.
  • Support organization design efforts by helping leaders clarify objectives, roles, spans and layers, decision rights, and governance; facilitate discussions to move from current state to desired future state.
  • Develop and execute change management approaches that emphasize leader engagement and ownership, including stakeholder planning, change narratives, communications, and leader toolkits.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to prioritize OE efforts, sequence work, and ensure alignment with sector and division strategies.
  • Use available data (e.g., engagement results, org feedback, existing performance indicators) to supplement interview and focus-group insights and to strengthen recommendations without overcomplicating them.
  • Create clear, compelling presentations and written materials that synthesize diagnostic themes, recommended actions, and change plans for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain current knowledge of organization design, team effectiveness, and change management practices, and adapt these frameworks to the MS context and engineering/program environments.
Basic Qualifications
Senior Principal Organization Effectiveness Consultant
  • Bachelor's degree required plus 8 years of relevant experience in HR or related field; or a Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience. Will consider 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Advanced consulting skills with the demonstrated ability to scope problems, recommend practical solutions, gain client buy-in, and deliver desired results
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational interventions from assessment to implementation
  • Broad experience applying best practices in organization, team and leadership effectiveness to address business issues and enhance performance
  • Experience leading large-scale change initiatives to support business strategy
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating leadership and team engagements to meet client objectives
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on how to use talent processes and tools to accelerate business results
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively manage stakeholders at all levels

Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Organization Development or related field
  • Certificate in coaching or certified executive coach
  • Prior experience as an internal or external consultant in a complex, matrixed organization
  • Prior experience in Human Resources, Organization Effectiveness or Talent Management roles
  • Prior experience with and/or certifications in common assessments and models related to organization development and leadership and team effectiveness
  • Experience working with highly skilled technical talent

Primary Level Salary Range: $112,200.00 - $176,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
