Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (MS) sector is seeking Organizational Effectiveness Consultant to partner with leaders on organization diagnostics, organization design, team effectiveness, and change management within our Human Resources Talent and Organization Effectiveness (T&OE) team. In this role, you will act as a strategic consultant and facilitator, engaging leaders through interviews, focus groups, and working sessions to understand organizational challenges and co-create practical solutions. You will work closely with program managers, engineering leaders, executives, and HR partners to clarify organizational goals, design structures and teaming models, and support leaders in navigating change. This position blends strategic advisory work with hands-on facilitation and implementation, ensuring solutions are leader-owned, business-aligned, and sustainable.

This full-time position will report to the Manager, Organization Transformation for MS.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Leaders, business leaders, and program managers on organization effectiveness, team dynamics, and change leadership.
  • Lead qualitative organization diagnostics (e.g., stakeholder interviews, focus groups, facilitated assessments, leadership and team working sessions) to identify root causes, themes, and practical improvement opportunities.
  • Design and facilitate sessions with leaders and teams (e.g., strategy alignment, team launches/resets, role and responsibility clarification, collaboration and conflict working sessions) that build trust, clarity, and effective ways of working.
  • Support organization design efforts by helping leaders clarify objectives, roles, spans and layers, decision rights, and governance; facilitate discussions to move from current state to desired future state.
  • Develop and execute change management approaches that emphasize leader engagement and ownership, including stakeholder planning, change narratives, communications, and leader toolkits.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to prioritize OE efforts, sequence work, and ensure alignment with sector and division strategies.
  • Use available data (e.g., engagement results, org feedback, existing performance indicators) to supplement interview and focus-group insights and to strengthen recommendations without overcomplicating them.
  • Create clear, compelling presentations and written materials that synthesize diagnostic themes, recommended actions, and change plans for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Maintain current knowledge of organization design, team effectiveness, and change management practices, and adapt these frameworks to the MS context and engineering/program environments.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Senior Principal Organization Effectiveness Consultant
  • Bachelor's degree required plus 8 years of relevant experience in HR or related field; or a Master’s degree plus 6 years of relevant experience. Will consider 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree requirement.
  • Advanced consulting skills with the demonstrated ability to scope problems, recommend practical solutions, gain client buy-in, and deliver desired results
  • Demonstrated experience leading organizational interventions from assessment to implementation
  • Broad experience applying best practices in organization, team and leadership effectiveness to address business issues and enhance performance
  • Experience leading large-scale change initiatives to support business strategy
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating leadership and team engagements to meet client objectives
  • Strong business acumen with a focus on how to use talent processes and tools to accelerate business results
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to effectively manage stakeholders at all levels
  • Demonstrated aptitude for learning and flexibility to manage multiple projects/clients simultaneously, mitigate and accelerate risk, adapt to shifting priorities, and navigate ambiguous situations
  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills in both virtual and in-person environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint)
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Organization Development or related field
  • Certificate in coaching or certified executive coach
  • Prior experience as an internal or external consultant in a complex, matrixed organization
