Senior Principal Engineer, Software – NGAS Global Surveillance

Location: Melbourne, Florida.
Relocation assistance: may be available.
Travel: 50% of the time.
Clearance: Secret (interim clearance required to start).
U.S. citizenship required for all positions with a government clearance.

Responsibilities

• Full lifecycle design, implementation, and unit testing of software.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional team members to integrate functionality with other software components.
• Lead or provide leadership to drive solutions to complex problems.
• Gather and report software metrics to ensure best practices.
• Develop software products across all phases of the software lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 9+ years of software engineering experience, or a Master’s in STEM with 7+ years, or a Ph.D. with 4+ years.
• Extensive experience in Java, C/C++ or other OOP languages in Windows and/or Linux environments.
• Demonstrated delivery of products in C/C++ or other OOP languages.
• Strong integration and debugging skills.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government DOD Secret clearance; interim clearance required to start.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with IRAD or other experimentation contracts.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and in high‑pressure situations.
• Experience with defense contractor programs and cross‑program/IPT collaboration.
• Knowledge of supplier management and driving results from sub‑contractors.
• Experience with integration and field installation in Software Integration Labs.
• Experience with Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop simulation environments.

Salary & Benefits
