Job description

Position

Senior Principal Environmental Engineer – Corporate Sustainability Organization, Environmental Remediation Team (Hybrid). Location: Redondo Beach, CA or Falls Church, VA. Relocation assistance: None.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consultation and strategic advice to management and internal stakeholders on complex environmental risk assessments and liability management.
  • Direct, review, and guide the technical implementation of remedial activities including site assessment, investigation, remediation, long‑term operation, maintenance, monitoring, and closure.
  • Develop project‑specific scope, select contractors and consultants, and align projects with budgets and objectives.
  • Oversee contracts, budgets, schedules, purchase requisition, and invoice approval processes.
  • Contribute to quarterly financial and performance reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory programs and environmental health and safety requirements such as RCRA, CERCLA, OSHA, and others.
  • Negotiate with regulatory agencies and key stakeholders to achieve optimal resolutions, minimize liabilities, and align with company goals.
  • Communicate project status and milestones to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review project status, technical and cost performance, assess issues, and develop solutions.
  • Implement sustainable remediation practices where applicable.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time annually.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental, chemical, civil, mechanical, hydrology, geology, or environmental science field with 8+ years of environmental remediation experience; or Master’s degree with 6+ years of remediation experience; or PhD with 4+ years of remediation experience.
  • Strong understanding of state, provincial, and federal environmental laws and regulations.
  • Expert knowledge of site assessment and remediation technologies focused on soil, soil vapor, and groundwater contamination.
  • Proficiency in environmental risk assessment and management practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical approaches and findings clearly.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing new principles and concepts in remediation.
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems with innovative solutions.
  • Track record of advising management and stakeholders on advanced technical studies.
  • Establish relationships with local, state, and federal regulatory staff and leadership.
  • Speed and decisiveness in meeting internal and external customer requirements.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, excellent organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Pro‑active self‑starter attitude and ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) accreditation is preferred.
Salary and Benefits

Primary level salary range: $129,300.00 – $193,900.00. Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus, and potentially long‑term incentive for higher‑level positions.
